We all have members we despise and the last thing we need is to see them comment on our thread because we know they will post something insulting or off topic

The "adding to ignore" list is stupid because we can see their usernames and that is annoying

So i think we should have an option to ban people from our thread or block them so that they wont be able to see the threads we make and the comments we post on other threads

That's a stupid idea. People will just start banning people from their threads simply because they know that said poster will disagree with them. So no, it will lead to pointless discussion in threads and a drop in quality in the site.

tbh, people wont spend much time in one thread. like your thread for example. the longest time a person could spend their time in your threads is 10 minutes. whats the point of banning him if sooner or later they will leave those threads?

and no, its the mod's power. you can't get that kind of power here. if you or anybody could, then a lot of people might not be able to post on threads

Any comments made which are insulting or intentionally off-topic are reportable. That should be your first action.

Banning people such that they cannot post on your threads or even see threads/posts associated with your account isn't the best move in my opinion. It is ripe for abuse. It could lead to threads where the only people that can view or post are those who you are sure won't disagree with you. It doesn't promote debate, rather it could divide the members into groups which only interact with each other if they share common interests.

Absolutely not. What makes you think members would be able to handle such a power? Things like the edit button, rep system and many more are abused and used the wrong way by members, imagine them having the power to ban people from threads? Yeaa no, in fact if members can't use a simple search button to verify if a thread has been created or not, or read sticky threads to see if things have been asked/suggested. Why should we give them moderation privileges such like thread bans? If members post off topic or spam in your thread(s), report them, simple. The staff, once they see the report will do their best to handle the report and take care of the rule breaking.

It has been suggested many many times but it wouldn't solve anything. Besides, if you start banning a person from a thread more likely he will have others ban you and it will be a never ending cycle of banning. That is the freedom of the internet you cannot try to limit what others will see. If you are having problems with trolls the best way is to ignore them

Nope, not going to happen. As long as people are making proper on topic posts and not breaking rules they can reply any thread. If they are breaking rules like posting irrelevant/offensive posts( or any other rule for that matter) etc then report and a mod will take care of it and ban them from the thread if need be.

However you can put them in your ignore list if you do not want to see their posts or messages.
