So apparently, Obito's fate is sealed. It's over. The 'best antagonist', the character we believed could actually stand against Naruto's TN, has been talk-no-jutsu'd.

GG, man.

I'm not as much upset at his defeat itself moreso the incredibly bad lead up it had. How are you going to work your entire life for something and give it all up with 1 or 2 conversations with a teen?

I still laugh @ people who thought obito will not be TNJ'ed. Madara is next.

That's the power of TNJ...it can cause people to give up their life's work.

It wouldn't be the first time kishi pulled some lame plot redirection.

I feel like his quality of writing has deminished. Mabey he's overworking himself, mabey he's tierd of writing naruto, mabey his passion is gone all together. But I can't pretend the war arc is as enthralling as part one or the begining of shippuden.

You'll learn to enjoy the manga a lot more when you realise TNJ isn't an actual thing and is the ENTIRE POINT OF THIS MANGA.

It's why the boundary between good/evil doesn't exist in this story.

It's why war and the road to peace is the main theme of the story.

It's why Naruto Uzumaki is special and why he is our protagonist.

I think of that sometimes; that maybe people are expecting something from this manga that doesn't exist. It just had so much potential with some of the villains when they were first introduced (Pain, Zabuza) and then to have them end like this feels somewhat...lackluster.

People that use the TNJ as a point in their debate, obviously believe their version of what Naruto is supposed to be is better than the creators. I have never understood this.

If you have a problem with the main character changing peoples hearts ( even the most evil people ) then you should have stopped watching/reading after Zabuza. The whole point of this anime/manga is to show that one person, using hard work, never forsaking their principals or dreams/goals, and loving his neighbors like he loves himself, can truly change the world.

Every time Naruto changes someones heart, every time someone gets that "ah hah" moment, has made me cry. From Zabuza, to Nagato, and eventually Sasake, this is to me what makes this series EPIC, and way above any other anime/manga I have ever seen/read.

I am not even surprised. What would surprise me is if TNJ worked on Madara.

Why? The man is striving for exactly the same thing as Naruto. He is just convinced that his way will not work, they already share something on common in the bigger picture.

This theme is more popular than you seem to believe. Every one of those moments have made you cry? You obviously haven't read a lot of present day manga/anime, because a lot of these are similar to quite a few other manga.

My problem with it is that this isn't a long, fought out process for Naruto. Every time he's fought someone it's taken only one conversation to get them to change their entire ideals, sometimes everything they've spent their entire life working on. It gets annoying because it's so unrealistic of a point that it doesn't even make sense in fiction. Sasuke being TNJ'd would make only slightly more sense seeing as Naruto's been pushing Sasuke ever since he left the village, but Nagato, Zabuza, all of these other people are giving up what they've worked their entire life for all for one boy who's been spouting the same speech since the beginning of the story.

You might be watching/reading a different manga then the rest of us. From what I remember, the Zabuza fight was really long, and Naruto preached to him more that 1 time. Zabuza's "work" was doing his own thing, while using other(mostly Haku) for his own selfish reasons. When Naruto confront him about his true feelings for Haku, at first he is completely cold hearted, and shows no care. What changed Zabuza was the fact that Naruto; and enemy, showed more love and compassion for his enemy then Zabuza did for a child that he raised and trained.

Nagato STARTED OFF being a good guy, and shared Yahiko's dreams and goals. Until the corruption of Danzo and Hanzo crept into their lives, they were following the same dream that Naruto has always followed. Not only that but Nagato nearly killed Naruto, killed their sensei, and destroyed the Leaf, but yet Naruto never turned his back on that same dream.

Obito, is the same.

You say that it takes one convo for Naruto to change a person's heart. Please show me were this actually happens, cause as far as I remember that has never been the case.( Unless one convo by your definition is talks to them multiple times )

The thing I see is that Naruto is a high level ninja, he is fighting high level ninja, so not only is he using tnj but they can see his heart. The villains he used tnj on were once good or were trying to finda way to save the world, though their ideals were skewed and they were on the wrong path. Naruto and Nagato had the same master. His own words were turned against him and it struck a chord. He knew that the path he was on wasn't prefect, Naruto showed him a better path. Obito and naruto were having the discussion in their hearts, Obito couldn't hold onto his ideals that were given to him by madara. They weren't his. He essentially was talked into it as a child. Naruto was able to return the forgotten feelings and show him the way.
