Dean walks towards the training field and finds yet another eager student there. It was that time again, train another one.
"Hey there, my name is Dean Winchester and I will be training you in the element of Water. Tell me everything you know about the element in the Narutoverse, it's strengths and weaknesses and also, known users of the element in Naruto. As much detail as you can!"
Dean then waits for his student to reply to him.

Karin stands impatiently waiting for her senpai to show up, he appears and starts to walk towards her. Upon making eye contact with her, he begins by introducing himself and asking a bunch of questions.
"Hm. Well water is what brings life to the earth and without it many lifeforms on the Earth wouldn't be able to function. Water is a liquid that is clear that fills up much of the ocean and lakes and rivers. In the Narutoverse, water is the epithet of the Land of Water because they are near water and stuff. Its strong to Fire because it extinguishes the flames but is weak to Earth since it gets contained by it. People who can use water are Suigestsu, Zabuza, Kirigakure Ninja in general, Darui, and Kakashi."

"Hmm, not too bad. Water is basically the one element in Naruto that is the most versatile and has the most forms. It has various purposes and is one of the first elements we see in action in the manga/anime. Water can be manipulated from a water source or can be made with chakra itself. Water comes forth in a few forms, and you will see this during the training. It has the usual water form, liquid water. It can be manipulated into a mist, a sticky viscous water, and even dark flammable rain. Though Rain is an element on it's own. But as we move on, I will elaborate on more areas."
Dean hands a piece of chakra paper to Karin.
"Now, I want you to take this piece of paper, not normal paper but chakra paper, and channel your Water based chakra into it. If you do it right, the paper will become wet. Sit in a meditative position and focus on it. Try it out and explain it with as much detail as you can Karin, you need to master this element."

Karin takes the paper, sits down and starts to channel her water chakra into the paper. As she channels her chakra into the paper, she thinks about the properties of water. How viscous it is, how it moves so freely and how its so versatile. As she does, the paper becomes wet.
"Did I do it right?"

"That's alright, now we will start with the first jutsu. Hope you are ready for this. Okay, for the first jutsu, I want us to walk over to the lake. A very basic jutsu, I want you to manipulate the Water, and create small waves of Water, also, you can fire small blasts of Water or shields of a dense Water to protect you from attacks. I want you to fire a few blasts of Water at my clone. It doesn't require a Water source, but it can be used to manipulate an existing source of Water."
Dean creates a clone that dashes towards Karin. She has to act fast to blast the clone.

Karin walks ontop of the lake using her chakra, then spreads her chakra across the lake using it to manipulate the water to form waves of water. She continues on doing this and creates several waves to attack Dean's clone.

"That's alright. Detail is key here, be as descriptive as you can. Now, my method of training will be as follows. I will explain a jutsu, and you will perform it, give me two advantages and disadvantages and also, how you would use it in battle. If you have questions, be sure to ask. Do you understand?"

"Okay, here is the jutsu you just learned."
"Okay, for the next one. The oh so famous, Hiding in Mist jutsu! Fairly simple, I want you to either manipulate some of the lake's water and lift it towards the training field or expel it from your mouth in the form of an extremely thick mist that is filled with your chakra and would render Sharingan users and Rinnegan users useless, as they will see your chakra all over. Good for hiding. Try it!"

Karin gathers her suiton chakra in her lungs and then expels it in the form of thick mist. The mist would spread out throughout the field covering up to Mid-Range blocking the vision of anyone who tried to look through it.
Advantages:
Blocks the vision of sharingan and rinnegan as you said.
Provides a cover to make the enemy unable to see you.
Disadvantages:
Can be blown away using a wind technique
User can't see either
Battle Usage:
Enemy activates sharingan, Karin knowing the downside of the doujutsu quickly expels mist from her mouth covering the field and blocking the vision of the sharingan.
Advantages:
Blocks the vision of sharingan and rinnegan as you said.
Provides a cover to make the enemy unable to see you.
Disadvantages:
Can be blown away using a wind technique
User can't see either

"Okay, now for the next one. I want you to form a sword made of a dense like water, this sword can be wielded like a normal sword and doesn't require any Water source. I want you to attack my clone with it!"

Karin focuses her suiton chakra in her arm, by manipulating it with her chakra, she forms the water chakra into a sword made out of water. The sword is as dense as water and would allow the user to attack.
Advantages:
Quick, and Easy Sword
If you don't have a sword you can use this.
Disadvantages:
Low Rank
Battle Usage:
Karin dashes towards her opponent, and using the sword, slices the clone in half.

"Alright, now for your next one. I want you to manipulate your Water based chakra and form it into a shield before you, using shape manipulation. This shield can stop projectiles and close combat moves, depending on rank. A relatively easy technique, so stop my clone's punch with it!"
Dean's clone runs towards Karin, and aims to punch her in the face. Such a hasty clone.

Seeing Dean's clone rush Karin, she gathers the perfect amount of chakra for her upcoming technique, she releases the suiton chakra and using shape manipulation forms it into a shield made out of water. As Dean's clone closes the gap in between them, she quickly directs the shield at the location the clone is trying to punch with. Instead of making contact with Karin, he ends up making contact with the shield. Quickly, she takes a kunai from her pouch and uses it stab the clone into smoke.
"How was that, senpai?"

Fairly easily overpowered by other techniques

As I displayed above, it could be used to shield against punches but even punches and kinda create some breathing room for you, since you have line of defense.

Dean's clone runs towards Karin, he has to act quick to lash at him, otherwise, he will feel the wrath of the shadow clone.

Karin quickly performs the Rat, Dog and Ox handseals and then gathers and focuses her water chakra to create a condensed whip. She firmly holds onto the whip and uses it to lash at Dean's clone. The clone manages to dodge the lash and then Karin decides to go with another approach by attempting to wrap the clone in the whip. She manages to successfully wrap up her opponent and with her others hand she pulls out a kunai and throws it towards the clone making it go poof.
Advantages:
A counter for low-level taijutsu fighters
Can be used to counter against small tangible objects
Disadvantages:
Low Rank
Fairly easily overpowered by other techniques
If the opponent is wraped they can just use a wind technique to disperse the whip.

As I displayed above, it could be used to either lash at the opponent or used to catch and/or wrap your target.
