Madara leans back over, and whispers back to Anakin: "Do what you must."
Madara then turns his attention back to Byakuya, watching his actions. Seeing him sit and meditate, Madara wondered back to when he was that age. It wasn't as peaceful a time as now, war everywhere and on all fronts...even home. Madara was forced to learn in a troublesome time, sneaking jutsu in in between wars with other clans. He had trouble, fire being his dominant Chakra Affinity, making mastering it a near impossible task.
"Now, you feel how the river flows? How calm it is, and how relaxing..this is the very nature of water style obviously. In order to master water style, you must master the concept of push and pull. All through the day and night water is constantly moving, a free spirit so to speak. Its moving forward than backwards than forward then back again. The tide is the perfect example of this. As the water is 'pushed', you gets pulled back with equal or greater force.
The lake we're on now is a bit calm. It'll be much easier here."
Madara then uses his water chakra to cause to water under Byakuya to rise and move around (though not raging, just small waves to 'shake' the water up).
"The way your chakra just was, the same way the lake was...visualize that as you cause your chakra to calm yourself, taking those same properties you just observed the lake to have, keeping yourself in place as the waves move around you, not disturbing your meditation."
As Madara spoke, he sat calmly in the midst of the small waves in the lake, looking as if it was a giant ripple in the middle of it.
