So, we're here to learn some water. But first, tell me, have you ever been trained before?

In water, no.

I'm currently training Fire with Sharingdork and Earth with Kiritsugu.

So you should already know the basics no? What is chakra, what is a shinobi, what is taijutsu, kenjutsu, genjutsu, fuuin jutsu, ninjutsu, elemental ninjutsu, all that jazz, no?

I need to tell? xd

  • Chakra: Chakra is the union of physical energy (from the body) and spiritual energy (from the mind). When combined, the chakra is chanelled through the Chakra Pathway System, and concentrated in certain areas (in or outside the body) to do certain jutsus. Chakra is required to do Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, among other types of techniques.

  • Shinobi: Shinobi are the primary military forces in Naruto. They are the ones who employ the chakra of their bodies in techniques. Their job is protect their villages and complete missions for it.

  • Taijutsu: Taijutsu is the hand-to-hand combat, making use of Martial Arts. They require no chakra, only stamina and physical strength, accessed through training. Because it doesn't requires hand seals nor chakra flow/balance/concentration, they are quicker to use than Ninjutsu or Genjutsu.

  • Genjutsu: Genjutsu is the illusionary techniques. They disrupt the enemy's chakra on the brain, confusing their senses. It often creates false images, cause pain from mind trauma or control their mind.

  • Ninjutsu: In basic ninjutsu, the user manipulate their chakra at will. Unlike genjutsu, their effects are real and physical, and unlike taijutsu, requires hand seals and chakra concentration/balance. Basic ninjutsu generally deals with shape transformation (that controls the form, movement and power of the technique) only.

  • Elemental Ninjutsu: This kind of ninjutsu also manipulates the chakra by hand seals, but it adds nature transformation (that changes the chakra into physical elements) to the technique, making it more powerful and efficient.

I hope that's sufficent :D

I guess, in a very superficial and simplistic way, it works.

Now, what is Water, it's characteristics, it's weaknesses, it's strengths (and why), and how can it be combined by you, in battle, to make Water techniques stronger, or using water, how can you make other elements stronger or more efficient.

In real life, water is a compound made of hydrogen and oxygen. In Narutoverse, it's one of the 5 Basic nature transformations. It's normally found in liquid form. It has no taste, nor smell nor colour. As a liquid, is soft and malleable.

It's strong against fire, because it extinguishes the fire (like all water do) and weak against earth, because earth, for being solid and hard, blocks the water or, through the porosity of earth, absorb it.

I can make Water techniques stronger by adding wind into them (making it more efficient, because of the natural behavior of wind) or lightning, because Water conducts eletricity, meaning that, if an opponent is surrounded by water, a lightning technique throught the water can eletrocute him.

Why would infusing wind through water make it more efficient? Efficient in doing what?

Also, how can you use Earth and Water? Fire and Water?

Efficient in power. It would be more powerful and such, more lethal

With Earth, it can create muddy-like attacks, either as bullets or mud terrain. And the fire, if used correctly, can make the water boil, and boiling water is quite useful to attacks. It can also create steam, useful for hiding or enhancing attacks (as seen with Han).

But how? What exactly would change? For example, when I want to bake a cake, I rub butter on the tray, to make it more efficient. The butter will make it so that the cake doesn't stick to the tray, and thus, when it's done, I can plate easier.

Why is mud better than Water or Earth? Also, why is boiling water useful? As for the steam, good, xD

Boiling water is hot. It can burn the opponent. Because of being water, it is more malleable and better-controllable than fire (at least in my opinion), making it burn opponents quite easier.

Earth like it is naturally is hard and unyielding. Mud, otherwise, is more flowing and malleable, making it more easily manipulable. And the mud can also become harder or softer, depending of the user's wish, opposite of water, that has no other solidity out of liquid, ice and steam.

Very well. Because that is indeed the greatest addition water provides in combinations. It makes the combo more flexible and malleable. It's a great medium, a great substance through which you can infuse your other elements.

Now, let's start with the methods. I teach elements a bit differently. I found jutsus to be very repetitive within a same element, so it is easy to distinguish a few key mechanisms through which you can preforms pretty much any jutsu you want. This is the base of mine, Scorps and Reborn's Method Training.

Method 1: Basic Projectiles
Method 2: Streams/Water Sources
Method 3: Water Manipulation
Method 4: Alternative Releases (Water/Oil/Syrup)
Method 5: Specifics (Body Liquid)

The first method is about focusing water chakra from within your body and then materialize it as a quick and concentrated projectile of water. They all follow the same method, concentrate water chakra on your mouth, mold it by using handseals and then spit it out. They have speed and a certain tangibility, of course, never faster than wind or stronger than earth, but they do pack a certain punch. This, allied with the fact that they don't require water source, and thus can be freely used wherever, makes them quite resourceful.

So begin by concentrating water chakra on your mouth and spit it out, aiming to knock off these beer bottles. *places 3 bottles on a nearby fence, 10 meters from you

Beer? :|

Okay!

I start concentrating my Water chakra on my mouth. I weave the necessary handseals and spit the chakra on the water missile form. Unluckily, it misses :|

Again.
I make the hand seals, then spit the water. It hits one of the bottles ;)

I try to aim on the second bottle, but I get distracted with something and when I spit the projectile, I miss again.

"I won't miss anymore!"

I focus my chakra on the mouth again and after doing the hand seals, I spit the water. It successfully hits the second bottle.

"Now the last time!"

Full of confidence, I focus my Water chakra on the mouth again, do the hand seals, and spit it out. It successfully hits the third bottle. :D

Good

Here is the list of techniques that employ this method (Handseal > Charge Water in Gut > Spit a Water Projectile). Like the method says, none of them require a water source.

(Suiton No Jutsu) - Water technique
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary/Attack/Defence
Range: Short-Mid
Damage Points:20
Description: Creates small waves of water, small blasts, and small shields of water.

This has other methods of preforming, but one of them is the ability to spit out small projectiles shaped like bullets. Should have the same speed as a throwing ball.

(Suiton: Teppoudama) - Water Style: Water Bullet
Rank: C
Type: Attack
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra cost: 15
Damage Points: 30
Descripton: A large sphere of rotating water that is spit out of the users mouth that can blast a huge area leaving it soaked.

Bigger bullet, slightly faster given the rotation of the water and the increase of power.

(Suiton: Suikoundan) - Water Style: Water shark bomb
Rank: C
Type: Attack
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra cost: 15
Damage Points: 30
Description: A water projectile shaped like a shark that comes crashing down on the opponent.
(No water source required)

Similar to the ones above, but has the shape of a shark thus is more hydrodynamic and aerodynamic. It is still essentially a water projectile, so it won't change speed mid-air/underwater.

(Suiton: Teppoudama) - Water Style: Water Bullet
Rank: B
Type: Offense
Range: Short/Long
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: 40
Description: The user gathers water in their mouth and then spits out a large sphere of rotating water that can blast a huge area leaving it soaked.

Much bigger water shot, faster than previous ones.

(Suiton: Daikōdan no Jutsu) – Water Release: Great Shark Missile Technique
Rank: S
Type: Attack
Range: Short – Long
Chakra cost: 40
Damage points: 80
Description: The user performs Tiger – Serpent hand seals to create a stronger version of the Water Release: Water shark Bomb technique, which creates a gigantic shark, far larger than the user, to attack the opponent. This technique differs from its parent jutsu in being able to absorb the chakra from an opponent's technique, and in turn use that chakra to grow larger and more powerful.
Note: Technique can only absorb up to B rank level techniques.

The strongest water projectile technique. Is basically the same as the Shark projectile I mentioned previously, at a much bigger scale and with the power to absorb weaker techniques without loosing power or speed, which translates in the jutsus being incorporated into the shark (Earth adds debris which increases the tangibility/mass f the shark, Fire heats it up, Water adds more substance/mass, Lightning electrifies it, Wind lowers the temperature and sharpens the edges, increasing speed).

next method is Method 2: Streams/Water Sources.

These techniques also require no water source to be preformed, and are in fact one of the best ways to actually create a water source. They stand as the ability to materialize a more continuous and thus bigger stream of water, instead of a short-timed shot of water, like in the previous method.

You can preform these techniques in two forms:

1. Handseals
2. Charge Chakra in the Gut
3. Spit out a continuous stream of water.

or

1. Handseals
2. Charge Chakra in the air
3. Materialize a great mass of water from nothing and direct it at your opponent.

Since it's continues, it carries more force than a projectile, so if a stream jutsu is of the same rank as a projectile, although the initial collision would be equal, the stream would continue to push afterwards. It is also a great way to create a water source to manipulate afterwards.

Another great way of using it is, if the range of the technique allows, materializing the water right on top/around your opponent. If you preform it correctly, you could encase your opponent in water and drown him, or, if the opponent is using a lightning jutsu, it will cause your opponent to electrocute himself.

But there is a disadvantage, as noted by a mist01. Since you are continuously and actively delivering chakra and water, it will make you vulnerable or at least distracted to other jutsus. I know for a fact that Izuna enjoys disrupting people's jutsus whenever he has the chance. There is an advantage to continuous output of water (or wind, fire, etc), as you can push continuously, but it also means you're busy for a longer duration of time.

You can, at any point of the technique, dispel it and quickly focus on something else, but the danger remains, and you should be aware of it.

Questions? More uses you can think of?
