This is an A rank level projectile with a Long range. It requires two handseals, which can be shortened to 1 handseal, and has 3 usages. It doesn't quite fulfill the shortcomings of the canon Jutsu list, and my own, but it works well. It's a shark made of sticky syrup that can damage and/or restrain.

All in all, wl I would like it to have no handseals, and maybe given the option of using it from a water source in addition to being spat out ( and of course, unlimited usages, but that's the least of it, 3 is plenty), it's still quite good and simple, and, because of that, versatile.

That sounds cool, tbh. Have the option of being Oil, Syrup or Water. And if you could get away with a note like: "Water as first Specialization allows one to use this technique without handseals"

As for mine:

( Suiton: Issui Shui ) Water Release: Rheotaxis
Show
Type: Supplementary/Offensive
Rank: A
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage Points: 60
Description: Rheotaxis is a behaviour where animals will turn against a current, lining their body with the water motion. The user will create a very thin mist, invisible to the naked eye, though clearly visible by Doujutsu, around the terrain, with a pattern of clearly visible, albeit small, water mosquitoes, which are nodules of aggregated mist. The water particles will have a similar property as the Mist Rain technique, where instead of the water eating the chakra from other techniques to make them weaker, which is essentially absorbing chakra within other techniques, Rheotaxis will have the opposite effect. The thin water particles will almost allow themselves to be absorbed by the chakra within other techniques. Lightly suspended in the air, they will follow the current of foreign chakra and turn towards the source, so even the smallest hint of chakra will move the suspended particles.

Practical speaking, when an opponent moulds chakra to perform a technique within the mist, the water particles will quickly converge towards the enemy, to follow the chakra, while the mosquitoes turn into needles that implode onto the man with speed similar to a drawn arrow, piercing him and interrupting the technique. This can be used offensively, up to Mid Range, or in a supplementary version, at half the chakra, up to Long range. This C rank version of Rheotaxis does not deal any damage, but allows the user to pin point an opponent by following the direction of the non threatening mosquito needles.

Note: While the mist can stay indefinitely on the field, without the user having to maintain it, it will only have a single usage, as the whole mist will converge as needles at the first foreign technique that is being moulded within, effectively unloading the technique.
Note: A Rank can only be used 3 times per battle and requires a 2 turn cool down.

Analyze it please

Just a very unique water jutsu to be honest. I'll make an invisible mist (visible to doujutsu) which does an inverted affect compared to the mist rain technique. So this means instead of absorbing chakra, the mist flows towards the opponent's chakra to converge upon the source. Floating within the invisible mist there are also visible yet small mosquitos made of more semi-solid mist.

Using the inverted chakra tracking (that's how i see it) the mosquitoes automatically converge on the enemy whenever he builds and molds chakra to use a technique, turning into needle like forms in order to impale the enemy and cancel the usage of their technique. It can also be used in a less lethal supplementary way; simply using the mosquitoes to simply go in the direction of the persin using a technique.

Questions though. Will the mist only flow towards the opponent, or will it flow towards techniques also? I want to believe this is supposed to stop them from using the technique in the first place by attacking them before they could ever manifest said tech, but just in case. If a technique is formed behind me, will the mist converge on it?

It's meant to be sensible to the moulding of chakra, and that happens before manifestation of chakra in a remote location ( which precedes actual manifestation of the jutsu itself, like water, earth, etc ). The idea is, even if it's handsealess, the chakra is moulded inside the body first, and because the opponent will already be inside the mist, the nullification is nearly instantaneous, so there's never something so fast that it outpaces the needles.

Now, remember, Rheotaxis is basically two jutsu in one. A Rank, 30 Chakra, 60 Damage, the Needles pierce the target & C Rank, 15 chakra, 0 Damage, the Needles do nothing but show you where chakra is being moulded. The first can only be used 3 times the second can be used indefinately. You have to make the distiction before using it, you can't just use the A rank and then describe a non lethal usage.

Also, I would like to point out that this works against any number of enemies within the mist. So if two or more ninja use a technique simultaneously, the mist will divide. The needles will still nullify the techniques, but power/damage will be halved. With C Rank, it means you'll have needles flying in two different directions, but you can still clearly see the middle of the separation, so you can still track fairly well.

If there's an sort of lag between the ninja, then the mist will only follow one. So, any succession of jutsu, even if separated by a second, will not divide the mist.
