Water prison jutsu question?

So..I recently started re watching the original Naruto, and I got to the part where Zabuza traps Kakashi in the water prison.

My question is, why did Kakashi have the ability to breathe in the prison, while later on in Shippuden, when Kisame (fake) trapped Neji, Lee, and Tenten, they didn't have the ability to breathe?

Kishi didnt really think about the development of that tech fully at that point in time

you can do anything with chakra you can probably concentrate it on your **** for birth control

This might mean that there are aspects of this technique that the user can control. . . . . . . . . I think.

I think he just has better lung capacity. Neji, lee, and tenten held their breath a lont time too. Neji and lee neber complained about loosing air. They can walk on water in this manga so try not to think to much about it.

Kisame's water prison isnt stronger, he just used it against weaker ninja, Kakashi is an elite ninja who can probably put chakra in his lungs to breathe better.

What is the most likely thing that happened is Kishimoto didnt really focus on it all too hard, he later corrected it in shippuden so yea
