Why do people so strongly believe that water and lightning have an extreme advantage over Gaara’s sand when the manga hasn’t shown such a thing?
-SAND IS NOT DOTON. Jeez, what is so hard to understand? Sand is not an element and even if it has some kind of elemental affinity, it would be wind, not earth. It would make sense, seeing as the nation of WIND is an entire desert and how Shukaku(who is entirely made of sand) has WIND release. Also, wind>lightning. If the above theory is correct, then there is no reason to believe that lightning is sand’s natural weakness.
-Sasuke piercing Gaara’s defense in part 1 DOESN’T prove that ration>sand. Chidori is a PIERCING tech, it’s supposed to pierce through stuff. that's why it went through his defense, not because it's a lighnting tech specifically. Unlike A’s ration armour kick, which Gaara manages to stop quite comfortably despite being a ration-based move.
-Not once in the manga has it been shown that water makes Gaara’s sand useless, or even harder to control. People make that misconception, because of the fillers/movies, which however are not canon! And please don’t try to argue by using real life science. The Naruto-verse has its own natural laws that are different from ours. People can create clones in an instant, produce black flames with their eyes and have demons inside of them…is it really that hard to believe that maybe sand isn’t affected by water?
-Remember, Gaara used his sand to capture Edo Madara after it was inside Mei’s (electrocuted) water dragon tech, without showing any sort of difficulty.
-The only obvious and currently known weakness for Gaara’s sand is oil, because it makes the grains clump together. (And speed, if it manages to go around the defense…)
These are my opinions, you are free to disagree with them (but posting arguments too would be much better)!
I used the search bar and I didn’t find a thread like this, but I apologize if it’s been done before.
