Do you think he was justified in keeping a close eye on the Uchiha during his reign of hokage? Sure the Uchiha were discriminated against but they were still given high ranking missions for Konoha's safety.

At first I thought "Hell no!", but now I think Tobirama was completely in the right.

These guys are ridiculous. As you said they weren't chained up or anything. The treatment might have been bad, but their rationalization of the situation was to revolt against the village.

Not to mention every single major villain in this series has some fixation or affiliation with these guys. They were and still are a huge hazard to humanity.

I don't understand where everyone's coming from.

The Uchiha didn't feel discriminated at all at that point and the one's who did didn't do anything about it.

Obito was the cause of the Uchiha massacre, if the Kyuubi incident didn't happen, the Uchiha wouldn't have been slaughtered.

Tobirama himself stated he kept a close eye on every dangerous clan, not just the Uchiha.

The Uchiha realised Madara's words were true by early as the second Shinobi War. They probably would have rebelled regardless of the Kyuubi attack.

Personally I say he wasn't justified... He put his clan's rivalry with the Uchiha above the safety of the village... He may have said that he kept a close eye on all the dangerous clans but did he keep a close eye on his own clan... darn heck no! And besides you cant take his word for it when he said "he keeps a close eye on every dangerous clan" There are some serial killers who say they never killed a person...

The 'discrimination' truly did not really start untill Danzo ....... Most of the think Tobirama did was out of practicality, but Danzo was Paranoid ....

People confuse the situation. Tobirama gave the Uchiha a part of the village to call their own and an important job of policing the village. They were not forced to stay in their part of the village.

Tobirama was not justified, that's why Sasuke wants to correct what the former hokages did.

I hold Tobirama accountable for the animosity felt by the Uchiha Clan towards the leaders of Konoah which subsequently led to their planned Coup D'etat and later annihilation.

Its seems too convenient to forget that the Uchiha Clan of the Leaf initially turned their backs on Madara and followed Hashirama. Tobirama from the very beginning disliked the Uchiha and even Madara acknowledged that the Uchihas were 'protected' and had integrated under the leadership of Hashirama, however he also warned that if Tobirama took over after Hashirama, the Uchihas would then be persecuted by him.

Although they were not out right persecuted, his fear of a revolt from the clan led to him isolating them, placing them predominantly as the police force of the Leaf, which in itself caused them to be resented by others (not to mention that the Prison was also placed within their already isolated area of residence which Tobirama had given them: on the outskirt of Konoah).

So yes, Tobirama was the reason the Uchihas harbored resentment towards the Leaf. If he had treated them as Hashirama once had, I feel it could have prevented the later annihilation of the Uchiha Clan. And Itachi would not have been burdened with the darker side of the Leaf; destroying his own Clan in order to save his brother (an innocent) from being murdered.

this again u got 1 side saying madara was right another saying tobi was right if u read the manga u want to know who was right they both WERE! why? they both foresaw events cause they both made assumptions thus

Tobirama and Madara are MAINLY at fault for what transpired

if rama calmed down down a moment and listen to his bro and madara put more faith in hashi then none of this would have happened!

It states this on chapter 399, Page 12:

But Obito said it which means his story's a pile of poo.

He was saying stuff which made it seem the Uchiha were saints and the Senju were evil, he also told Sasuke that the Kyuubi attacking Konoha was a freak accident and had nothing to do with the Uchiha.

All lie.

That still doesn't mean that some of the Uchiha didn't realise Madara was technically right.
