[Discussion] Was there a point to Sakura?

In Team 7, everybody played a role. Kakashi was the perfect teacher for Sasuke because they were Sharingan users, prodigies and had the same nature affinity. Sasuke was a perfect team mate for Naruto because had the Kyuubi lost control, he'd be the only one to stop it with his Sharingan. And then there's Sakura

I agree, the people who hate on Sakura 24/7 are truly hopeless, it's getting old..

Sakura is a catalyst (like Rin) that will be the reason that compels Sasuke and Naruto to take whatever action they are going to take.

Funnily enough, she's the reflection of Tsunade's original idea for a shinobi squad, in that she's the medical expert of the group, which Tsunade originally envisioned would occur within every squad. She also, at one time, was supposed to be gifted in genjutsu, but we haven't seen that in Part 2 whatsoever :/.

I guess people are getting bored with the itachi threads so they are moving onto another character that is easily to bash and can cause a world war 2, aka pairing thread.

Yeah, i guess Sakura is always a raw material for a hot thread...

Oda would have made her run around in Bikini.

Sakura did catch up. She is the only member of team 7 without a single free top up, while all the other three got something from their parents/elder brothers/Clans( KG)/Friends that also happen to be sage of 6 paths. And yet she was still able to contribute. Saved both Naruto( keeping him alive till Obito could put the bijjus back in Naruto) and Sasuke( from desert). She is an exceptional medic without soldier pills and other add-ons ( Kabuto) and still 16.

None can match Naruto and Sasuke ATM but they were not enough on their own while fighting Kaguya.
