Karin was the only one in Team Taka to have that backstory where we didn't really see her in the story. Suigetsu and Jugo were introduced in Part 2 (along with Karin), but never meshed with Part 1's story line (as in /supposedly/ being showed there in a flash back of some sort).

Still it isn't really considered an ass-pull when it doesn't contradict the story at all. It gives an actual reason why Karin was so infatuated with Sasuke to begin with.

It made perfect sense to the story. Sasuke needed help getting information of Itachi's place and they all helped him find it. His team guided him all the way through the Kage Summit Arc and even protected him hen he fought B.


Sasuke unlike Indra actually showed the capabilities of leading a team which was a good change.

Indra was said to be alone...

Indra wanted to work alone, that right there says that he is incapable of trusting others and making any friends. Sasuke is an Indra Transmigrant and unlike Indra he adopted Ashura's qualities of working with others. Ashura became so powerful thanks to the power of friendship and others which was stated in the manga.

Indra is still incapable of forming a team because no one would trust his devastating nature. Sasuke showing an opposite quality was quite unique and something you wouldn't see from an Uchiha because Uchihas usually work solo.

They were all hugely wasted. Suigetsu could've led the manga by himself with the amount of likeability and potential his origin and motivation had.
