Was Sasuke just taking a stroll or something?

After watching today's episode and thinking back to the chapter when Sasuke got stabbed, I thought about something. Why did Sasuke put up so much resistance when Hashirama tried to give him a jutsu to beat Madara. It is like he didn't want to fight Madara or something. It seems like Sasuke just said "We beat Obito already so I am taking a break. Screw Madara. I am going for a stroll". I wonder if Sasuke would have even tried attacking Madara had Hashirama not convinced him to do so.
