Can you give the actual details? Have you read what the whole case is? Because I very much doubt anyone would bother to file a case with just that much. It won't hold even in one hearing and court cases cost money.

Yes I looked it up already and edited my reply. It's nothing but internet/Cable TV political drama going on 24/7. I have stopped following it because I don't want to lose my brain cells for them. It's really an internet issue. Everyone has to blog and tweet. And then news reporters will ask or another person will reply on internet himself... it's damn annoying.

HaterFtw's post was deleted :Sparks: well well
:bdpf: They need to respek Hakuna matata man. They need to do it, very important. We need a clinic for people that get rustled that easily.

On Topic: Ghandi is nothing but a poser.People don't do nice things just to be nice in the media world, so ask yourselves, why did they give him so much positive publicity again and again? He obviously somehow benefitted the British empire and therefore wasn't as pure as a lot think as people had control over him and he willingly accepted that. They could tell him to endorse an idea and everyone would listen.

Gandhi didn't like Africans all too much, so I'm not too fond of Ghandi myself. For a man who fought for independence and peace, his principles didn't apply to all spectrum's of his beliefs.

Yep. As I said, getting publicity immediately means one is a chess piece

He never liked us at all :sdo:, after gaining his 3 cents of fame under the British under-strict during the "spear of the nation" uprising by the blacks he immediately ditched his Wits quest and left South Africa to India where knowing a subject of then close to billion angry citizen will sprout a greater reaction :sdo:

Tripe.

OT: Gandhi wasn't a saint nor perfect. He was a human with deep flaws, but despite that, he achieved some unquestionably great feats. What his motivations were for those accomplishments are neither here nor there - especially now that he's dead. What matters is that he achieved them. It's also true that he held views and made statements that in our time, would be considered deplorable... but he didn't live in our time, he lived in an era with vastly different attitudes and beliefs. There's certainly a lot of jejune comments on here but no matter, time enables growth.

but he didn't live in our time
Should we cry now? No, such excuse dishing. Slaying a dragon in begging for an angel is highly hypocritical in extreme levels. Talk about time and achievement, NO, he achieved nothing the William's descendants have it really big in your naïve head. You really think they would leave India immediately if there were still unequivocal gains remaining on it? Never!

If I give you orders to portray something and it turns out looking great, it was never you who achieved it. Gaining "good" publicity makes you a chess piece immediately. Nelson Mandela was labelled a terrorist until he agreed to sell the rest of South Africa, etc. Many were portrayed to look like what they are not. Gaddafi's initial hope was a united Africa with a single currency, he died a celebrated death by the Americans. More people die of American weapons and we speak of "diplomatic terms"????? JACK SHIT!! WAKE UP

NO, he achieved nothing
Er.. you wrong there... Gandhi made mistakes messed up at times, and he often didn't achieve what he was trying to do directly but you shouldn't forget he was still a face that gave an ID and encouragement to many. He was raising issues that people could get behind and motivating them. People in the remotest village would listen him and it was because of him having that persona he was able to keep the movement mostly peaceful. That's not a small achievement.

Many social reforms got a momentum because people respected him and he asked them to go on that line. Things are never that black and white on these issues. Changes do not come out of vacuum.

I am not saying that's not true but I am quite sure another Mahatma would have surfaced if Mohandas wasn't the "chosen" one.

This brings up an interesting point by the way, Imagine a Siddhartha Gautama or Jesus of the internet age where his wrongs can never be cleaned up to the "nigh immortal state" they are in.

Don't know about Jesus but Gautam Siddhartha sure will get feminists on his back for leaving his pregnant wife and walking out on her.

Well it was for prophesised that if he sees only the good in the world he will turn into a powerful warrior who lead the Kingdom to greatness. However if he sees even the slightest sadness of this world he will turn into a pacifist.
He saw the cripple, the lady at the animal and immediately left his family to find "enlighten"... in other words he left them for the greater good :sdo:

Back in my Buddhist practising days I would not believe all of his quest stories though, because it was difficult for me to eat 1 average bowl of food per day meanwhile the legend has it that at some point he lived with "none but a grain of rice per day". That is just impossible. It was said "his back ribcage could be seen from the front"... So I wouldn't lie, what mostly made me quit the "enlightenment" journey to be a monk was the food lifestyle I just couldn't maintain no ways...

Holy hell this thread is tearing the man apart. Any Gandhi supporters here who can give a good argument for his defense?

I'm curious now, why do Indians hate the guy? Is it a party thing? Are the ones hating on this thread supporting the same political party? Or is this a common opinion in India?
