I'm not sure.. I'm not really a FF guy an the only thing i know of Sephiroth is what I've seen in AC. (Advent Children)
He an Madara only seem the same as far as feeling superoir to those around them but design, No..
Madara has the old samurai armor battle ready like design whereas Sephiroth's design is more of a free feel/loose sorta. EMO Goth
Of course I'm only going off of the Sephiroth i know from AC so i could be wrong..

Madara's face is very Uchiha, his hair long and spiky which complemented Hashirama's long straight hair well on their statues at VoTE and his attire is in line with what was normal in his lifetime.
