I don't frequent this part of the site all that often and I'm fairly new to the site in general so forgive me if this has been addressed before, but during the initial fight with Juubito what exactly was Madara's reason for engaging Hashirama while Juubito was on his rampage? Was he just trying to keep Hashirama away from Juubito and by extension keep him from potentially getting erased by TSB so he could drain his senjutsu chakra later?

Yes, at that moment of time Hashirama is the strongest sage mode user at the battle filed before Naruto outclassed him viva Sage Power up. The only known weakness to a Juubi jin is senjustu which is roughly translates to "Sage Mode based attacks."

I'm aware of the weakness, I've read the manga. My question was whether Madara was intentionally trying to keep Hashirama out of the real battle to keep him from being erased, just so he could steal his senjutsu chakra later for his own purposes.
