Was Kisame really a member of seven swordsmen of mist?

You have to wield one of the legendary swords to be considered as a legendary swordsman of the mist.

However, Kisame killed the fat original wielder of samehada the same night Madara invited him to join Akatsuki right? So how did Kisame become a member of the swordsmen of the mist when he just got samehada and joined akatsuki.

Before he killed his master, Kisame only had a normal sword, not the legendary one's.

Maybe Kisame did not join the akatsuki right away and none of them knew that he killed the fat bastard at the moment. Thus, making him become one of the swordsmen replacing his master.

Yes, he was a former member of the mist until he eft and abandoned it. Much how Zabuza was a member until he left(i think he left). Kisame was a member of the seven swordsmen.

Okay, I'm confused. You asked if Kisame was a member, I said yes because he himself said that he was[/] and now you just said that you know that, so what's the point of this thread?

You misunderstand. I'm saying simply picking up and using the sword doesn't make you a member. For example, Kakshi and Killer B have used their swords but they're not members simply for doing so. (also not from the Mist). A better example of what I mean is Suigestu. He wasn't a member even though he wielded Kubokiribocho because you have to be a part of the group as well.

i believe[uncertain] some time passed between when kisame killed samehada's previous owner and the time he officially left the hidden mist. i think he operated for a while longer under yagura knowing that the person he thought to be madara was manipulating the mizukage. in this time period is when i believe he made his name as one of the 7

This makes most sence; sadly it's speculation for one; not explained fir two; no-one has shown proof for three...

Now it may just be idea > Kishi > butt. XD
(not NRC really in that order) hope to be disproven; as I too also was kept up at night about this idea; wasn't a base member at that time...
