edit: part of the confusion is that right b4 itachi uses the crows, kishi always focus on itachi's right eye.

That scene replayed in Izanami so it could be literally both... A crow clone inside of the recording genjutsu "Izanami".

A crow clone is the most simple answer that makes sense though.

Hmm, okay. so at some point prior to getting stabbed, itachi summoned a crow clone(hand sign or eye?) which then after the initial stab he dispersed into crows forwhatever reason(what exactly is the point in using crows instead of other clones, distract?) then the real itachi came from another location and sliced off the horn. it's alot more simple than i initially thought. so alright, in the same scan below against sasuke, after the chidori enhance fuma cuts through the itachi clone, the clone disperse into crows which i guess it distracts? sasuke, then the real itachi that was still standing speed blitz at sasuke with a follow up kick, correct? lol. pretty neat..the scan confused me the sameway it confused me on the kabuto one. the panel was zoom in itachi's right eye for whatever reason. so i thought it was genjutsu.
