He's kind of right though. Kabuto caught Itachi in that sound genjutsu before he cast Izanami. Had Sasuke not been present to cast their Sharingan off of each other's to break it Kabuto would have put one of those tags in him to seal away his will.

of course there is also the fact that Itachi's whole purpose there was to end the Edo Tensei so he, most likely, would have been saved by plot.
