So was it one of Kishi's ......, or was Sasuke contradicting himself?.
I lol hard when Sasuke said Naruto's shadow clone technique was the source of his loneliness.
Although he also said weakness, context says otherwise. So the emphasis was on loneliness.

As we can see Naruto has gotten more friends than he can count. Also unless I am mistaken he can also create an army of shadow clones anytime he is feeling lonely and have a party.

You misunderstood. He did not say that it was the source of his loneliness. He said it was the symbol of his lonliness which is true or atleast used to be. Though I have never looked at that from this perspective. That caught me off guard and Naruto as well.

I guess naruto is still feels lonely cuz he lacks bond on pair of family or best friend.

He has friends but he's not feeling so close with them as with sasuke.

Okay, but due to his friends now he has overcome that loneliness.

Well Naruto was lonely in the beginning but now even all the tail beasts are his friends. So i don't think Naruto is lonely.
But you may also have different explanation to that.

I see your point.

The statement is ironic given how well-loved Naruto is, but Saasuke sees needing other people as a weakness, so it was cruel but true.

I seem to remember Obito taunting Naruto about loneliness being Naruto's "worst nightmare."

AlphaSythian said it correctly. He still feels lonely, because his friends cannot replace his family. That's where Sasuke comes into play. He sees Sasuke as a brother whi can fill the hole that he has in his heart. I guess that's why he desperately wants Sasuke back. What Sasuke said explains a lot about Naruto's psychology now that I think about it.

Scythian's context was good, but look at Uzumakisama's context above too. I think I would go with Uzimaki's since Sasuke sees that reallying or having friends is a weakness.

Sasuke meant that Naruto created that Jutsu to defy loneliness, so it symbolizes his need for friends back when he didn't have any.

Also, there is the fact that Narutoo views Sasuke as his Best friend and a brother (heck, he even said that he is his only friend lol), that is why he wants to save him so badly, because he doesn’t feel that way towards his 'new' friends. matters little how many of them he got now. Imo

Oh I overlooked it. Yeah that seems very plausible as well and it sure was cruel. It even left Naruto speechless.

Just because he has alot of friends now, that doesn't mean he not lonely. In Konoha, there is no one who truly understands him. Sasuke is saying he creates shadow clones to surround himself with someone who understands his life struggles and what he has been through.
Sasuke understands this because he too is alone in this world and the only one who understands his loneliness happens to naruto. This is why sasuke never got over his revenge at first. Sasuke wasn't going to surround himself with people who only knew how to pity him, since they truly had no idea what he was going through.

Hopefully we see how naruto feels about sasuke's words.
