Was it assumed that Kakashi killed all of the mist nin instead of Obito?

Do you think that the Mist and Konoha both assumed that Kakashi was the one that slaughtered all of the Mist nin instead of Obito as he left straight afterwards? Maybe it was a secret kept between Kakashi and Minato or something like that.
