The change in appearance, and strength, is a bit like Jiraiya and Kabuto's sage mode.

If he was, which animal? Maybe slug sage, considering his knack for healing ninjutsu. His granddaughter had a natural affinity to the slugs, as well. Just a thought.

How are you people so sure about the sage thing? Post a link if you can

Anyway Slug sage, toad sage and snake sage. Wow
Wouldn't it be fun to master them all? (if possible)

Yes..Hashirama is classified as a Sage..

And it's unknown. It says on the wiki that:

''His Sage Mode is unique because Hashirama doesn't display animal traits of any kind. Rather his eyes display a dark pigmentation, his face gains several markings and on his forehead appears a dark, circular marking.''

Can't really take this as a fact, but the wiki is usually very accurate.

I know it said senpou, but that doesn't mean he's for sure a sage, in the way that we recognize it. I assume it is what it means, of course, but it isn't definitive like you make it out to be.
I was wondering what creature (if any) he would relate to. Seeing as how he only used it to buff up his mokuton, we don't know whether he does have an affinity to a certain creature, or not.

Senpou means Sage Art, implying the use of a jutsu enhanced with SM.

So, him performing Sage Art isn't enough for you? So, I guess people perform Sharingan techs w/o having Sharingan? And people perform Water techs w/o having Water Release affinity? /thread
