Kagerō perhaps but not necessarily telepathy. The latter implies Shodai could communicate with his clones by thought alone, whereas this page suggests that the use of seeds are needed to act as a transmitter (and even then Hashirama would have to absorb the clone in order to gain the information it had gathered).

Yeah I think so. Mokuton Bunshins can indeed merge with the surroundings, travel within them and communicating with the original via telepathy. Madara himself proved that he can merge with the surroundings, further with the tendrils of the Mokuton, when he pierced Tsunade with Susanoos sword within them. He probably also possessed a strong physical strength; Zetsu used Gedo Mazos strength in order to smash the wall and as it was confirmed, Hashiramas DNA served as a catalyst for Gedo Mazo, in order to create the Zetsus. After all the Senju anyway represent the physical strength and the strong body, Hashirama was the highest extent of Senju. Yeah Noddy, Shodai is number one, isn't he? <3
