Gaara's character from part 1 was of a guy who had a tragic backstory. He was neglected by his loved ones, seen as a monster similar to how Naruto was. Except Naruto some how found the good in people even though he was neglected by most. Gaara's character took a realistic approach in that he was someone who actually started feeling the outcome of the neglecting. It became so bad that he feared getting close to people. Originally when this character started out he was a great one. He actually made Naruto vs Gaara feel very impactful. Because you could just feel the intensity between the two. However was his character really wasted or not? That is the question I'd like to ask you guys. As for what my opinion about this whole thing is read below:
Lets be for real after part 1 ended by the start of Part 2 it felt Gaara's character was basically finished. At a young age he became a Kazekage. His tailed beast was taken away from him which made any potential he had as a charactered wasted. Kishi basically put his character on the sidelines doing paperwork for ages. I fail to see how this character truly lived up to his potinetial when most of his development was off screen. Sure some will say in the War arc the dude got some decent development when he made that emotional speech about Naruto. Oh right a speech about Naruto, how have we not heard that before? People say Hinata kept saying Naruto-Kun, Naruto-Kun, When people forget the real culprit Gaara. He went from a crazy psychopath to a dude who kept mentioning Naruto in his speeches. How was his character not wasted? I'd like to know in this thread.
