Was ac/dc really any good?

AC/DC wasn't all that great, imo.. terrible vocals, moderate to decent to above par guitar play (it varies), pretty much no bass, and great drums.. it's nowhere near it's hype. Everyone has a shirt of them and has heard back in black at least a million times.. I don't see why BiB sold so much either.. AC/DC, for it's mid 70s era (i know us in the US didn't get them till the early 80s but beside the point) hard rock/heavy metal, they couldn't even throw a stick at black sabbath and bands like judas priest, deep purple, etc just blew them away.. what do you think?

I dont agree on the shitty vocals but angus and his brother pretty much recycle the same stuff over and over. Their music is catchy and thats why they had so much success.

Well sure, by todays musical expectations. When AC/DC came out they were one of many bands playing something pretty new. People of their time see them as gods. It's no surprise to me that they aren't revered in the same way nowadays.

Back in Black is the definitive hard rock album though, imo.

As a drummer, it's quite annoying to listen to ac/dc for too long. I'm not a pretentious musician or anything like that, the playing is fine, but I pick up on drums mostly when I hear bands, and after awhile it's just unbearable because it's nearly the same thing every time.

Other than that they have defining vocals, a great guitarist, and some really iconic and overall great rock songs. Unbiasedly saying they are a good band.

My opinion is that I don't like them, save for an occasional song or 2 in a playlist. But I believe if they more creative writing especially and specifically in the drum tracks, then they would have been truly been one of the greatest rock bands of all time.

I love AC/DC even though most their songs sound the same. They had good tunes. Classic rock in general is good.
