Why must the series be touched up at all though? Why can't studio pierrot just stick to its liberties? Just saying. They made Kurama breath fire and it confused the fanbase and pissed off Kishimoto big time. Then of course there's the whole horse-faced pein thing lols...

The anime does a fair bit of divergence from the manga. Madara showcasing PS against Hashirama during the Clan Wars Era, that wasn't in the manga I don't think. Those like 3 episodes of Rin/Obito flashbacks, etc. It beats me, but little mistakes such as the OP would be fixed, likely artwork mistakes such as sloppily drawn Sharingan too. Don't know why.

Pretty sure the Pein thing was intentional to add more emphasis to it.
