Clearly it wasn't very effective at increasing situational awareness given the fact Sakura could sneak up on him in broad daylight. They couldn't all have been for that one jutsu where he has telepathy with objects that touch his blood...maybe he was just crazy as ****? Still doesn't explain the Kamui mini Juubi.
