It is very possible it is his son but most likely his grandson one or the other, they look alot alike. Does it really matter?

Does'nt change the possibility of him being Shisui's father. I've recently been involved in some research on a similar topic, and let me tell you Shisui was very likely much older than itachi(age difference).

Wouldn't have Hiruzen referred to Shisui as Kagami's son or offspring if that was the case?

It's quite odd to refer to someone's son with the generalized term "descendant"

It's like saying Naruto is Minato's descendant.

Good that you point that out:

He was already referred to as his 'daime issan', inheritor, successor(might even call it descendant), which was an indirect way of saying 'son' too.

Since there is an example for this, it may be possible that the same thing applies here.

The manga hasn't revealed yet that Naruto was Minato's son in that chapter, so the obscure terminology was used.

Hiruzen's statement however is a different case.

Manga has'nt revealed that much about Shisui at this point in time either.

Its about as similar as it can possibly get. You just asked for an example where naruto was indirectly referred to as minato's son(basically) and i gave it to you.

But Hiruzen did reveal all there is about Shisui and Kagami's relationship, There was no point for Hiruzen to hide or obscure the fact that Shisui was Kagami's son, so it's impossible for Hiruzen not to specify that Shisui was Kagami's offspring if that was the case, more than anything, Kagami is a grandfather or granduncle of Shisui. Definitely not his son.

Zero proof for that based solely on that statement alone. Fact is, neither me nor you know what possible reason kishi may have to not openly let us know something, but as i just proved indirectly referring to someone as a descendant/inheritor/successor just does'nt count.

Also, about the age of Shisui. Koto Amatsukami takes 10 years to activate, ever wonder how itachi knew that? Shisui had to have had his mangekyuo for at least a decade to learn something like that(Itachi did'nt have that much time to figure it out on his own). Simply take that as a reference, and its pretty clear he was at least in his twenties at the time of his death during the uchiha massacre, at the least. Unless you say he awoke his mangekyuo when he was like 7 or 8 lol.
