I was curious yesterday if I can watch Naruto on their website (VIZ) so I went there, choose Naruto and saw many things related to Naruto . However what I have noticed is that they allow us to watch Anime for free ? I think if you are from Japan, otherwise you can't watch it and for Digital Manga we need to pay.

I just don't understand how the hell watching anime from website such as NB is illegal and what's the difference between NB and VIZ version ? I know that we have just subs in it so how's that illegal when they allow us to watch it for free on their website anyway ? I just don't get it, can someone enlight me on this one ?

Licensing is sensitive. If you don't pay the license for the rights not only to own it, but to distribute it online to anyone for free, then you can't distribute it at all.

It's sort of similar to community movie screenings and classroom movie viewings. A community may pay a company for the rights to screen a movie for the community in a park or something, and as long as they pay, it's fine no matter who views. But a teacher showing a movie, even an educational movie, in class is illegal.
