It seems to me that Itachi and Kisame would both benefit from swapping weapons.
If Itachi gave Kisame his spirit weapons, the Sealing Blade and Elemental Shield, Kisame could rely.on his vast energy amount to apply the tools actively in battle and with his weapon skills also apply them to their full battle potential. His energy would allow him to use them to counter attacks of any practical size and to reach opponents at any practical distance, unlike Itachi who was forced to only use them in flash moments to conserve energy.
If Kisame gave Itachi his Shark Blade, it would provide him with energy to heal his eyes. This would allow Itachi to spam his Timeless Illusion and Black Flames. Not only would this allow him great area control and target control, but could combine with Kisame wielding the Sealing Blade to practically guarantee that opponents cannot dodge it. The natural sensing of the Shark Blade would also protect Itachi from ambush and blindside attacks. Its physical body would also be a great shield against many attacks that Itachi cannot dodge himself.
Of course, the nature of these two makes it highly unlikely that they would ever entrust their greatest tools to others, but if . . . What say you?
It is also possible that Itachi could give Kisame his eyes and then have the Shark Blade heal his own, then take the ones from Kisame to become an EMS user. They could then repeat this process to grant Kisame EMS as well.
Using their new sight powers, they could possibly look into the Shark Blade to understand how it absorbs energy and then both learn how to do it on their own.
