Villains - In your opinion............

...who is the most effective villain/antagonist? Now, this isn't a thread about the most powerful, or who you like best. Simply put, which villain (not villains) put the protagonists through the most crap, which villain was the most terrifying and which villain do you think got the job done.

The idea for this thread came to me when reading the most recent Naruto chapter (578) and seeing Madara endlessly dicking around instead of just ending this. It'd also be nice if you gave reasons as to why you think X is the most effective villain/antagonist.

My pick is Pain. Not only did he defeat the Hero physically, but he crushed his philosophy by asking questions the Hero still has no answer to and giving him facts about how f'd up the world is. He also got straight to the point instead of troll endlessly, falling into the clichéd "I'm so powerful you can't hurt me, so I'll toy with you until you eventually hurt me!" mindset that so many villains are guilty of. I could go on more, but I don't want to intimidate potential posters will wall-o-text no jutsu.

i think the same two. pain was the best villain. and the way kishi prepared the whole thing, by making pain kill jiraya so that naruto would confront hate and getting more mature to face the problems in the shinobi world.

i think oro in my opinion, if it wasnt for oro then sasuke wouldnt be so far in the darkness and naruto wouldnt have to go through all the crap he has done, i think that oro has put naruto through more crap than anyone just by taking sasuke away in the first place.

Orochimaru. The story would be nothing without him: no edo Pain, Madara, First, Second, any fights that were awesome to watch. It would have just been Everyone vs Tobi. Plus a major part of the story revolves around Sasuke which got stronger under Orochimaru; that put him up against Itachi and all: meeting Suigestsu, Jugo. The list goes too far.

I think that Madara, because, if we think way back, before Orochimaru and any other, Madara was the one starting all the thing...

Even though, yes, he's blabby and prideful, but that's just how the Uchihas were...

Kabuto, I love how he did nothing but play his part as a minion to the fullest whilst under orochimaru, he was like a double triple agent, first posing as a weakling from Konoha, was a spy for Sasori, went to work for Orochimaru, and then ended up finally becoming the big man on campus, I love the guys discipline, he's helped darn near everyone, and then turns around and tries to rule the ninja world, he even makes tobi seem less dangerous, I love that guy...

itachis the most effective villain. absolutely sadistic and ruthless. and achieves what you want from a villain, love to hate.

oro had little to do with sauske leaving and trying to kill naruto. that was all itachi
