Basically the artist when old is so deprived of his original skills that he can only paint with colors separately.

But the artist in his prime can mix and match colors to produce a masterpeice


That is the same for Hiruzen.

He was far too old to mix and match elements.

Kishi didnt know jac shit by the time he said tht..he wanted tht old man beast type of person, like whitebeard, rayleihgh,garp and ichiryuu and kockout jiro from toriko. In the end the manga ended and nothing was provd so as of now feat wise Hiruzen is ONLY above Kakashi IMO. Kishi just didnt follow up with this brilliant potential, unless there is a spin off of hiruzen,..

I still believe Hiruzen is still underrated .. His all fights were offpaneled in the war arc .. Prime Hiruzen still remain a legend ..

Really, at this point being an expert at each element won't even enable you to get past Akatsuki Members (unless you take it to another level altogether like Raikages). You need some special/unique abilities to make you a powerful ninja. And Hiruzen can't use Kekkei Genkai. Atg most he may Clan abilities like Expansion, Shadow, Mind, etc. But even that's a stretch. Can you imagine Hiruzen using the expansion jutsu?

Assuming that what you said was true, could you imagine Prime Hiruzen using 8th gate after expansion jutsu? He would be unstoppable.

Now Imagine that he uses PS after expansion jutsu, making an extra large PS, an then adding on the 8th gate. He would demolish everything in existence.

And I said Hiruzen can't use Kekkei Genkai. PS? He can't even use a single tomoe Sharingan. You kind of have to have it in your genes. Or steal it. Or be gifted one. Doesn't seem like something Hiruzen will do.
