lol no, actually lightning is a discharge of electricity created by the clash of positive and negative charged clouds(im no scientist but thats what they teach you lol).

now give me its characteristic as an element in battle

its charechteristics eh?
well it is a bluish color or color of light.
then it is very painfull and stings alot..
if it hits u u can die.
and in battle it is usualy used by the users hand. ( by my experience of seeing in battle)
