It's a better method of fusion because it's quicker to execute and not temporary.

I am well aware of that but did you forget that goku and vegeta train there balls off.

they are not the same. they have different techniques. potara earrings combine ur powers and give u more power, while the fusion dance only combines ur powers, look in the dragonball wikia

Potara is been said the better one. maybe because it's stronger. it was also said it potars was permanent.

frm the look at power lv. goku approximately about 10X stronger then trunks in basic form
ssj goku approximately 10X stronger then ssj trunks.
IF possible trunks turn to ssj3 then, ssj3 trunks > ssj goku. But ssj3 goku is about 10X stronger then ssj3 trunks (if possible).

give a fusion dance, let's say there power increase there to 100. (never been stated exactly how much)
in other words, gogeta is about 10X stronger then gotenks. in basic form
ssj gogeta is 10X stronger then ssj gotenks.
ssj3 gogeta is 10X stronger then ssj3 gotenks.

But we have seen super vegeto beats super buu + gohan (stronger then gotenks) + trunks + goten + piccolo.
