Vegeta being of royal blood might be the reason he's able to go Super Saiyan God and why it was skipped over in the last movie. The signs are there if you look over the manga, the movies, and the last few episodes.

Logically, going to an advanced state wouldn't have anything to do with being royalty, because that would imply Goku would be royalty as well. He has to get to ssg first.
