I think madara was the one who destroy the uzumaki village ...uzumaki were 9tails Jin. ...so mayb madara went to uzumaki village and killed one of Jin of 9tails to bring out kurama and control kurama and use him to destroy the village...that's how uzumaki got extinct.....bt how does madara know who was the 9tails Jin.? And why kurama hasn't said nothin yet how madara capture him tht easily?i kno mito was the first 9tails Jin. Bt I bet kurama wasn't roaming freely... Mayb he was living a cave...or somethin..any thoughts?

From what they say Kurama and all the tailed beast were like a natural phenomena that would happen with out notice. Could Madara had a hand in Eddy villages destruction very possible..Maybe knowing the potential of the Uzumaki clan's sealing ablities and life force he wanted to destroy them so they weren't able to help the Senju clan. This is a good theory none the less we jus have to wait and see if Kishimoto puts in

In his hate driven state at losing, and wanting the revenge he's been seeking.. he or someone(s) he knew.. maybe a few Uchiha who still followed him, killed off the clan and destroyed the village.

I think they were destroyed in the war.
As for kurama i think he was sealed in uzumaki village and when village was destroyed he was freed thats when madara got him.
