Uzumaki = So6P = Senju + Uchiha.

Senju + Uchiha = Uzumaki
Before I begin with this hypothesis
Let me repeat a bit of history that we are all familiar with
The older son of the 6P received the sages "eyes." Powerful chakra and spiritual energy.
The younger son received the sages "body." Powerful will and physical energy.
They both had different answers for peace. The Sage chose his younger son to be his successor. Their feud would continue on through their descendants: the Senju clan and the Uchiha clan.
The Uzumaki clan were "relatives" of the Senju. They were known for their sealing jitsu's, powerful chakra, and life force.
But the Senju did not inherit the powerful chakra, furthermore Nagato Uzumaki is the only person we know of that genetically (or through mutation, beside Madara) got the Rinnengan. Maybe it's more genetic than a mutation. I draw this conclusion because Madara got the Rinnengan before he died. But only after getting Hashirama's DNA. How he did this is still unknown.
Also, about the 6P's son that inherited the eyes, his eyes had a whirlpool design instead of a ripple design. The Uzumaki clan symbol is a whirlpool. Kishimoto hints.
The Uzumaki clan still existed when Naruto's mom lived in the Leaf village. It is unknown how or when exactly they were exterminated. But I find it very interesting that the clans able to access the Rinnegan, the Uchiha, Uzumaki, and Senju. were exterminated around the same time.
More specifically, the Uchiha and Uzumaki were assassinated.
Orochimaru and Tobi, perhaps, were racing to the Rinnengan. Orochimaru is popular for researching and experimenting, so Tobi planned to exterminate his subjects.
Next related theory.
Danzo was probably scared of someone achieving the power of the gods, so he hired Tobi to create chaos that would lead to the end of the Uchiha. This would explain why he knew of Naruto's birthplace. Only an Uchiha has strong enough genjitsu to control the Kyubii, which is what rose fear in the village that a Uchiha was responsible for the attack.
This lead to their extermination. It was planned by Tobi.
