if you wanna compare to the uchiha,

think of it like this. The uchiha, visibily, were all able to obtain sharingan at a certain age. Like hyuga and the byakugan.

With the uzumaki, there's only been reported to be two people with chakra chains, one of em had healing abilities, but ALL of them had strong life force.That's what they were known for.

CC is probably karin only, chakra chains are a sealing technique which only pure uzumakis have access to, or probably the avatars of the uzumaki ancestor, as nagato was not capable of using chains.

It was never said how rare it is, it can be a very rare thing or on the contrary it can be very common.
We saw 5 Uzumaki fight, 2 showed chains, 40% of the population can do it, I would tend to think that chains are pretty common.

Chakra chains are a Hiden Barrier sealing jutsu(A rank) according to the databook. They're not a kekkei Genkai, I assume some members have the strength necessary to use them to hold down tailed beasts. Also both users of the technique have yin affinity and 1 doesn't have yang affinity. My guess is yin release (form out of nothing) is necessary to covert the chakra into chains similar to Susanoo.

Karins healing ability is strange it can't heal her unless she bites herself so it may be connected to drawing on life force via chakra as a medium. Indicated by Karin who said if Tsunade continued drain Karin would become old.

So no I wouldn't say they're like the Sharingan (kekkei genkai) but more like unique secret skills limited to effective use by a few individuals

Chakra chains are result of the special chakra some of Ashura's descendants possess, that chakra is a remnant of the Six Path Senjutsu he inherited from JJ Hagoromo hence why they can bind bijuu like the Gedo Mazo.

Chakra chains, mokuton, Sharingan, BSM, all of those feats are a result of power that once belonged to Kaguya and the Juubi.

More than likely it was rare seeing as it only manifested in Kushina -A, someone noted to have powerful chakra and Orochimaru's test subject Karin. Oro has a keen eye for people with potinetial so Karin could be someone whose stands out in her clan

Rare is subjective, you can' t quantify it.But clearly 2/5 isn' t rare.
