Yeah I know this is a long shot but still I couldn't resist.

So we know for a fact that in narutoverse there is a god who grants you immortality and in return he asks you to kill people as sacrifices. We also know that a religion was created to worship him and that the only known member of it is Hidan ( I don't say that Hidan is an uzumaki!).

However, a religion, no matter how small it is, it needs many people to be created and I just don't think that Kishi just threw this Jashin guy for no reason.

As we know, Hagoromo had a brother, who sealed the Juubi along with Hagoromo inside of the latter. Nothing else is known for him. However, the sealing abilities creates the chance of him being the ancestor of the uzumaki (he might also be of hyuuga but it's not really important about what I'm going talk about).

Seeing his brother's power could have made him jealous and we have seen how jealousy has affected many characters throughough the history of naruto. Therefore, if his brother created ninshuu, it would make sense for him to create ninjutsu since that brings wars and Jashin's rituals require sacrifices.

As for the uzumaki clan we know that it was fearful but we don't know the exact reason, presumably it was because of their sealings. We also know that it was a clan of priests.

Here comes the interesting part: What if the this clan of priests was devided into 2 sides: the ones who seek peace and the ones who seek power and desire to conquer the world? Same as ninshuu and ninjutsu.

I would like to point this out: sealing abilities -at least the uzumaki ones which were used till now- are for defensive purposes. Ofc, you can say that from them it came the method of becoming jin which gives you power but at the end of the day, it's a method to seal a dangerous beast and the same goes for Death reaper seal.

That last seal is obviously Kaguya which strengthens my opininon about Hagoromo's brother's relationship to the uzumaki.

What am I trying to say is that a clan that it's only known for their defensive abilities can't really be considered dangerous since that would mean that they don't have offensive power, especially if they wanted peace.

But if Jashin was hagoromo's brother, then imagine a whole village of immortal people, working together while they also have these sealing abilities. Now, I don't say that every uzumaki is a jashinist but that there was indeed a war between of them, between the ones who wanted to live peacefully and the others who wanted power.

An immortal village, surely, no matter how small it is, it would pose a great threat. So you could say that half the village believed in ninshuu while the other half in ninjutsu.

I would like you to consider for a second the death reaper god sealing. The specific one takes away one's soul along with its user. Thus it would work on an immortal guy because immortal or not, soul is a complete differen subject. Therefore, that technique might have been used to stop the Jashinists by sealing them away.

Returning now to the religion's matter. For a religion to grow, it must spreed and to spreed in needs people, a lot of them, surely there would be many people like Hidan who would desire power and thus if this religion was to spreed it would put the whole world in danger. To stop the growth of a religion, you must stop its source, nullifying it in fact. Do you remember what happened to the uzumaki? Total annihilation. The other villages might have used uzumaki's sealing to seal away the Jashinists and later they might have killed the whole clan, whatever their religion was, to make sure that they wouldn't pose any threat in the future.

I mean look at Hidan for example: this dude is a complete idiot, without any special fighting abilities and yet he reached akatsuki's level power only by being immortal. Imagine how this immortality would work on a genius.

I hope that you liked my theory =D It's a bit far-fetched indeed but just imagine what a huge twist would be if the clan that was always depicted, as a clan of angels, was the stronest in the history and despite its history for being priests, were in fact the source of a satanic cult as dangerous as the Jashinist one!

Jashin is a cult. Where does it even hint that Hidan is Uzumaki? Also, Hidan was a complementary to Kakuzu Team as they both were immortal. Kakuzu was one to kill his teammates because of his desire for money, but he couldn't kill Hidan as he had other interest.

No proof uzumaki and hyuga came from sages brother.
Death reaper god is certainly death reaper god, and to be activated, it needed the mask of the uzumaki, also we know that Hagoromo and his brother were priests, so were the uzumaki and we know that they used sealing techniques, so did the uzumaki. Lastly about hyuuga we know that Kaguya had byakugan and most importantly, everything I said was a theory, if everything was facts then I wouldn't need to make one.

The theory is quite well thought. I just have a feeling it is not the case in reality. The facts are thought well, the explanation makes sense, but still it seems kinda strange to think that. I can't agree with this 100% But I like your thoughts. + Rep

Theres still no proof. Imo they came from the sage not his brother .

I like the connections you've made in this theory even if it sounds very farfetched. My only gripe with it though is the lack of resemblance the Jashin curse technique to the Uzumaki clan seals which usually have the whirlpool sign w/ writing rather than just a circle and triangle.

Interesting theory. I would like to see reactions if this happened LOL
lol indeed.
You mean that bullshit. I read that. " I just don't think that Kishi just threw this Jashin guy for no reason"

You are making it over-complicated and more than what it is; extra.
No I don't mean that I mean that ( I don't say Hidan is from the uzumaki clan!) Answer me this: just because you believe in some religion does this mean that you derive from the nationality in which it was born?

Well certainly, with such a theory I can only hope to make sense, I can't prove anything with what we have, we can only theorise.
damn that was long.. I lost your point midway
Bottom line is that I believe that the uzumaki clan was devided in half, the one half believed in nishuu and became known as the "good uzumaki" while the other half believed in ninjutsu and had followed Jashin's way.
There's scarce proof for this theory. Won't necessarily be accepted by people on this site tbh.
Indeed but with such theory you can't expect to have sufficient proof to prove it. I mean, could have anyone guessed that hagoromo would have a brother or that sasuke would want to become hokage? A guy in fact had suggested the latter but everyone rejected it immediately.

Thank you, well you have a point with the symbol but again this was a cult so maybe they had changed things, after all, if it was indeed the same symbol it would be awfully obvious.

A well thought out theory, but if I recall correctly from the databooks, the Jashinist Cult originated in Hidan's village: The Hidden Hot Spring Village and that he killed them all including most of village when they decided to turn it into a tourist attraction, discarding their shinobi foundations. Afterward he experimented with their jutsus on his body, similar to Orochimaru until it made him immortal.

Edit: My mistake. He did experiment on his body with the jutsu until it made him immortal, but it doesn't state where he obtained the jutsus or where the Jashinist cult originated.

His jutsu does have regenerative capabilities just like Karin's chakra and in the end, Shikamaru did seal rather than destroy him. You could add those points to your theory as well.

However, how do you explain Orochimaru not knowing about them? Especially when he knew of the Uzumaki clan, had one under his wing whose power he knew of and even knew the location of the village and the hannya mask?

True but then again believing a specific religion doesn't mean that you were born at the same place in which that religion was first appeared. The fact that he believed in Jashin while h was from other village can also mean that this religion had spreed up to a point and thus it would be even more important to stop it as fast as possible out of fear of further development.
Discard what I said. If you read my edit, I was wrong and nothing states his village practiced jashinism or that it originated there.

Well what Shikamaru did can "techniqually" be considered a sealing but it's not the actual thing, he just rendered his body useless. Well it's not certain that he didn't, although judging from his lust for immortality he should have. After all, Orochimaru wants to be a god on his own. Hidan had to pay as a price his autonomy and became a living puppet who had to obey his god. Another scenario is that this wasn't something widely known. Now you can say that Orochimaru did have knowledge iin similarly unknown subject but you can't really rule it out as a possibilty.

i would agree with your point about orochimaru not wanting to be a puppet to a god if it wasnt for the fact that orochimaru is also a puppet to his immortality jutsu. he has to get a new body every 3 years. senju or uchiha body might be able to hold him for longer but we dont know how long, and it certainly wouldnt be more than a single lifetime as uchiha bodies arent imortal. i also like your theory and think its well done, but i dont see any chance of it happening. there certainly are more jahin worshippers and if we have another villain and like another few years of manga, then the final villain would certainly be jashin and his followes, i just highly doubt that uzamakis are those followers.

Thanks for your kind comment, well I don't suggest that a new villain -Jashin- will appear just to stretch things out but rather to explain the backstory and give some explanation about the uzumaki. After all, if there were other Jashinists' till modern era, don't you think that Hidan would have tried to find them? After all they were sharing the same beliefs and god.
