The Uzumaki clan (うずまき一族, Uzumaki Ichizoku) was a prominent clan in Uzushiogakure. They were also relatives of the Senju clan and thus both clans were on relatively good terms; an alliance that extended onto their Hidden Villages - Konohagakure and Uzushiogakure.
Background
The Uzumaki clan (うずまき一族) was a prominent clan in Uzushiogakure. They were the direct descendants of the Sage of Six Paths, along with their branch clan - the Senju, who used to belong to the same clan in the past.
The Uzumaki Clan was at first divided into two families - The Main Family and the Branch family. The Main branch consisted of pure blood Uzumaki clan members.
The Branch family, jealous of the Main branch for possessing their bloodline - killed their own clan head Later they came to be known as the Senju clan and established Konohagakure no Sato.
Even after their desertion, the Uzumaki tried to maintain a good relationship with their blood relatives. The now named Senju, in greed of acquiring more power didn't give in to their hate for the Uzumaki and thus accepted the alliance between Uzushiogakure and Konohagakure. The alliance was solidified by the marriage of the new clan head's daughter Uzumaki Mito to Senju Hashirama.
Later on, the Uzumaki clan was attacked by the joint forces of Kumogakure no Sato of Lightening Country, Hidden Mist Village of Water Country, and the Hidden Stone Village of Earth Country. Outnumbered, they asked for help from Konoha - but recieved none, as the Senju didn't see any benefit for the leaf by helping the Uzumaki survive any further.
The Uzumaki fought vailantly, eliminating three fourth of the combined forces, but in the end, the clan was annihilated.
The few who managed to survive and escape Uzushiogakure include-
Uzumaki Kushina, who later gave birth to Naruto & Uzumaki Shiki, who later gave birth to Nagato.
if this theory is valid naruto can gain rinnegan but one like in my pic. and explains why nagato was canadate for rinnengan and not another uchiha.
