Okay so for anyone who has not yet seen the end of the Hotaru and Utakata mini arc (forbidden justu), do not read on or else it will probably piss you off.
Okay so I just watched the end of that arc again, everyone is totally happy, the forbidden jutsu is out of hotaru's back and Utakata has accepted her as his student. (I swear there's a dirty joke in there somewhere but I'm not gonna say it)
Anyway, my question is this, does anyone else feel like the end of that arc was total crap, I mean yea I'm not naive enough to believe that Hotaru and Utakata are going to have a happy ending because happy endings don't really exist in part 2, at least not yet. But what kind of crap is it that not even five minutes after they set off on their journey, Pain attacks and will later kill Utakata. I mean come on, we spend like 6 episodes watching Utakata become a good person and then BAM he gets buried under a landslide caused by missiles (yeah they looked like missiles).
I mean was I the only one that was POed by this, meanwhile Hotaru is chilling in a field and will probably wait for him for half of her life, not knowing what happened to him. an unhappy ending in Naruto if ever I've seen one.
