Even if you are using tor it can compromised by tapping end nodes.
I remember there was a news about university student who used tor to send anonymous mail to his dean that there was a bomb in classroom to avoid the exam. FBI counght him..He was using collage WiFI.They found him by differentiating who used tor in the network.

USA and their allys like UK are very clever they not only go to ISP or the companies like FB they even rig undersea cables.NSA has a 100,000 square foot mission critical data center, where they are intercepting 1.7 billion American electronic records and communications a day, using 5 Zettabytes (1 Trillion GB) space to keep every information stored for next 500s years at least.
