So for those who don't know, the last time the federal minimum wage was raised was in 2009. It started in 2007 and ended in 2009 and took us from $5.15 to $7.25. 2 years to get $2, The CPI went from 202.416 to 211.143
that means something costing $2.02 in 07 costs $2.11 in 09, an increase of only ten cents yet we got a $2 minimum wage raise.

Now fast forward and it's been 6 years. The CPI has raised to 233.707 from 211.143 that's a 22 cent increase and we get nothing? By previous example we should get at least $4.

Honestly minimum wage doesnt matter. If you want to make something for yourself then work hard and you will find a job that offers alot more than minimum wage.

I wish it was that easy. But for many that's not an option. And if it ever is, it won't arise until they spend time doing those minimum wage jobs.

We got the same problem in Quebec ,Canada . Everything cost more and more but we dont get paid more.
The gouvernement calls a time of austerity and cuts everywhere , yet they find a way to raise their own salary and bonuses.

Minimum Wage is Trickle-Up Poverty.

Which is why we shouldn't have it.

Of course, we also shouldn't have the Federal Reserve and we should only accept currency reinforced by a standard unit of gold or silver as legal tender.

But, you know, for the sake of progress, we have to destroy things we know to work and implement slavery.

I don't know why they put that ridiculous intro in the video. Just skip the first minute.

This is, effectively, why the Consumer Price Index will continue to climb astronomically and why minimum wage will never be enough and why there will always be a war against accumulated wealth (unless you are in the democratic party or a large donor to the democratic party).

This is why I'm against raising the minimum wage; I'm against having a minimum wage, and why we need to get rid of the Federal Reserve.

They are probably collecting over time, but not really working the hours.

And?

What is the lowest hourly wage or monthly salary that you would accept for the job?

Are you too stupid to be able to figure out what your time is worth to you?

"What if no business is willing to pay me what I need?"

Then you find something else to do, or you reduce the costs associated with your lifestyle. However, if there are that many people in society willing to work at rates you cannot accept for one type of job, chances are that the costs of many things related to your costs of living have also gone down.

IE - When wages decrease, the Consumer Price Index decreases - the cost of your goods and services go down, as well. Which means it costs less to support your lifestyle.

So, what if the employer does choose to hire someone who is willing to work for $3 an hour when you want $10?

Find something to do that is worth $10+ an hour or figure out how to live on less than $10 an hour.

Or - here's a crazy idea... take your skills and talents and strike out as your own private trade or business. Find something that isn't being done in society and ask someone if they would be willing to pay you to complete that task. Negotiate an exchange and go for it.

There was a time in our economy when most people were not employees. Most people were independent tradesmen.

I really do wish life worked that way. Believe me, I do. But working 3rd shift minimum wage with no production benefits & surrounded by 2/3rds of the week force being immigrants or people who have lost everything shows me it isn't that simple.

Well I know LA raised there minimum wage to $15 an hour, but the cost of living is so high there it makes sense. To change it more people just have to fight for it like they did. But then again they fought for quite a while and no one including myself thought it would pass even then.

Not to mention most adults that get paid minimum wage have two jobs or a partner with another job. So it ends up balancing out to make ends meet. But minimum wage is really just a starting point, entry pay. It's your job to find something that pays better or get a raise, not the governments to force companies to pay you more.

That's part of the reason the inflation in prices is taking place. To get people to spend more money. They raised it in 2009 because that was right in the heat of the recession. If they raise the national minimum wage again it would actually dilute the value of the US dollar further and prices would raise as well.
