Hello once again Oro Jackson members and I'm back with a theory on probably the least interesting supernova, Urouge the" Mad Monk." I will be discussing his past and future in this topic so hopefully this makes him interesting to some.
Lets go over some things we know about Urouge:
-He is from a Sky Island
-He is a birkan(the large wing span)
-His epithet is "Mad Monk"
-He is captain of the Fallen Monk pirates
-We last saw him in the NW approaching Raijin Island
-He is 47 years old
-He has a DF that emphasizes Karma
I believe Oda drew inspiration from multiple sources with creating Urouge. I think Oda main inspiration for Urouge's character was this guy:
Grigori Rasputin. Rasputin was a religious, Russian politician who was credited for the suffering and fall of the Russian Monastery in World War 1. He was murdered in 1916 at the age of 47. Rasputin was also known as the "Mad Monk" of Russia.
With this, we can assume that Urouge was isn't so great in politics. Also, Urouge's attire is similar to the divine soldiers in Skypia. Those gold rings around their necks? They look just like Urouge's earrings.
Urouge the leader of a divine soldier unit on his sky island. Due to his tendency to get into trouble, his destructive habits and bad luck, he was banished from his banished form his sky island.
As proof of his destructive habits, Urouge was the one who staryed the fight beyween himself and Killer on Sabody. Killer seems like an intelligent and knowlegable man so it seems unlikely that someone like Killer would willingly cause a ruckus right next to Marine HQ.
As for Urouge's supposed bad luck:
Urouge, in a literal sense, is a fallen angel and those flame tattoos on his arms symbolizes such. When angels are banished from heaven, they are sent to tell until God decides what to do with them.
The God who would decide Urouge's fate is Enel.
The most obvious thing people may think of is this:
That's not the only reason I say Urouge will join forces with Enel. There are many reasons actually. One of the reasons is Urouge's DF itself, which I think is called the Karma Karma Fruit.
When Urouge receives damage, he can transfer that pain into power to send it back to his opponent which is essentially karma.
He even has an attack named after Karma.
Gods are synonymous with karma. When you typically attack God(verbally), he attacks you in return(being struck by lightning is very popular karma in religion).
Second reason is that black pillar Urouge uses as a weapon.
It kind of looks like a monolith. It reminded of 2001: A Space Oddessy where there is a black monolith on the moon. Enel is on the moon and Urouge has a monolith.
The 3rd and final reason is because Urouge draws inspiration from Final Fantasy. In FF, there is a mechanic called Karma damage. In FF10, there are enemies called Warrior Monks and Fallen Monks.
The Warrior Monks are an army of Yevon, which is a religious group that prohibits the expansion of technology. Yevon can to be after winning the Machina war, which was a war of technology. The warrior monks track down heretics and after death, become fallen monks that still serve Yevon.
Ironically, Enel will come down from the moon because he is running low on technological resources and will kidnap Dr. Vegapunk, to restock on technology on the moon. After kidnapping Vegapunk and gaining a Pacifista army, Enel will run into Urouge and they will join forces(Urouge may think of this as his redemption).
Urouge will tell Enel about the New World and the conversation will bring up the SH pirates. Though Enel would be a little bitter, there is a SH that catches his attention: Cyborg Franky. Since Enel wants all the technology he can get, he would want Franky as well and Urouge will be the one capture him. Urouge will have an army of automatas and the newly upgraded pacifistas with him so getting Franky wouldn't that difficult(wont go into extra detail for that's for another theory).
However, as a sign of bad karma, Enel and Urouge's group will be ambused by Sentomaru and Kizaru and Urouge will ultimately be defeated and blown away. Urouge's bad luck wont end there however, as he will shortly run into the Blackbeard Pirates and will be murdered at the age of 47, just like Rasputin.
