I was going to play Assassin's Creed Brotherhood on my ps3, but it told me I had to update the ps3's software first. The thing is, my internet cable broke yesterday and I don't have the security key of my router (long story..) so I figured I could download the update on my computer and place it on an usb device to transfer it to the ps3. Downloading works fine, but the ps3 doesn't recognize the usb device. Did I do something wrong or is my usb device just not compatible? I'm buying a new cable monday anyway but it would be nice if this worked as well. Please help -_-'

in order for you to do your own updates it's easier to have PSgroove installed but the breaks your warranty and is...illegal i think.

as for it not recognizing your flash drive that means that your flash drive is formatted in NFTS. PS3 only reads FAT32, so you will need to formatt your usb flash drive and set it for fat32 and then re copy the update

but remember to back up alll of your usb files that you want to keep before formatting as it will be deleted when you format.

btw if you have any more questions on consoles, i'm very handy with hardware and emulation ^^

That would indeed void it's warranty, and someone else told me it's illegal.

My flash drive was already formatted to FAT32 before I tried is, and It's formatted again after it to try it again.

But it doesn't really matter anymore because I got my new internet cable now.
