Call me a gen 1 wanker if you like as well.

I have always been extremely attached to pokemon since it was released by nintendo. My childhood is summed up by pokemon and sailor moon.

Now, the problem as i see it is not that nintendo lacks creativity but rather, their new pokemon designs (by new i refer diamond and pearl and those released after diamond and pearl) are lacking originality.

For all intents and purposes, originality refers to the art and features that were found in the original pokemon series.

You currently have pokemon that look like they were drawn by a child from the netherworld. There is hardly any relationship between our world and these new pokemon.

In the generation one series we had pokemon we can relate too. Charizard was a dragon. Charizard was a fire type. Ok. That is original.
Bulbasaur for example had a bulb on his back and thus it made sense for him to be able to use attacks such as vine whip and razor leaf. Not to mention that bulbasaur actually looked really good in terms of design.

Now you have pokemon that if you colored them with a different color they can pass off as any type. They lack design that matches them with what they can do.
