I was being sarcastic there. I think he will do something more than that. He has his rennigan activated. Most likely may fight someone else or play a supporting role in this fight with Naruto.

Gai is still alive.

I ment he is not actively fighting. Plus I saw the disappointment in him, when he could only go 6 gates in the fight against Madara. I am sure since than he has trained hard to surpass his limits. This will also be a chance for him to surpass Gai.
