Here it is, another chap. Also, if you feel like it, check out my other one on and They have more fights than this one.

Itachi and Kaoru stroll along in the village, separated from Katsura and Cho and mixed in with Kumogakure civilians and shinobi going about their various businesses. Both disguised shinobi carry backpacks to pass off as luggage when they get to the inn. Itachi's face, though disguised, remains stoic as ever, still maintaining the indifference the ANBU commander is known for. The intensity of his gaze seems weakened by the absence of his Sharingan.

He turns towards his right and to his left, taking in the foreign territory as well as looking for the slightest indication of a looming danger. In an infiltration mission such as this, sharp senses are a necessity if one is to maintain their cover and avoid suspicion at all times, and even more necessary is the ability to not give away the fact that one's guard was always up. It was a part Itachi had learned to play well after being ordered to do so countless times by Konoha. Deception had become his second nature.

He then turned towards his teammate who was smiling happily while looking around with such wonder that it almost makes their cover story of being tourists believable, at least for her. He began to worry if she was really up to this task. He knew Yamanaka Koaru for being very loquacious, forgetful, childish, sometimes just outright insane and a tad too at ease with missions, lacking in the shrewdness that made perfect deception feasible. It was her first infiltration mission.

Despite his request that someone else be assigned, the Hokage still ordered her to tag along since there were no medics that were experienced spies in the village at that time. To prevent any mishaps, the Commander had decided that she will tag along with him instead of the other members of his squad so that he can keep her in-line but still he worried. For a shrewd ninja like himself, a problem is better dealt with completely than managed. There was no need to dwell on the past, it cannot be changed. He resigned himself to focusing on accomplishing the task at hand.

Itachi: How far away are we from the inn?

Kaoru: It should right at the next turn.

Talking a few more steps forward and turning to the right, the couple then saw the Moshi Inn, tucked between a flower store and a Ramen stand and opposite a bar on the other side of the street. It was a beautiful establishment with many likable and attractive features but to these ones, only one factor was important: it was inhabitable.

Itachi: There's more shinobi than civilians in this area.

Kaoru: Really? Didn't notice.

Itachi: It means we'll have to take extra care in our actions so that we won't be noticed.

Kaoru: Yeah, yeah. I'm hungry. There's Ramen right over there. Why don't you check us in and I'll join you.

She handed her bag to Itachi and rushed over to the Ramen stand. Itachi stood watching somewhat in awe that a girl as carefree as her was really a shinobi.

Itachi: Fine.

The Uchiha moved towards the entrance of the Moshi Inn and on reaching the front desk, he turned to the elderly woman at the desk, identified as Mrs Shura by a name tag on her robe

Itachi: Hi, I'd like a room.

Shura: How long will you be staying?

Itachi: We don't know yet.

Shura: We?

Itachi: Yeah, me and a friend.

Shura: Ok, your names?

Itachi: I'm Makoto Enishi and she's Maki Fuen.

Shura: Alright. Room 12, second floor.

Itachi: Thank you.

He smiled courteously, took the key she handed him and walked towards the flight of stairs but not before noticing someone keeping a more than watchful eye on him. His only reaction to this was the brief narrowing of his eyes as he glanced at the individual who continued to stare at him through the window of the Inn. He considered that he may be over reacting. After all, she seemed like a normal girl and it wouldn't be the first time a girl had been staring at him. Taking a deep breath, he ascended the stairs.

Elsewhere, at the Ramen stand, Kaoru gobbled up the noodles she was served in a less than civilised manner much to the pleasure of the person who prepared and served the food and the irritation of fellow customers. Three bowls which she had already devoured were stacked up next to her current one. As she finished her meal, she bellowed out a burp, placed a few Ryo notes on the table and began to leave.

Kaoru: Thanks old man!

As she stepped out of the Ramen stand, she felt something sharp pressing against her back; a kunai and felt the presence of an individual standing behind her. It was the same girl who was keenly observing Itachi earlier.

Voice: Yamanaka Kaoru of Konoha, when you get upstairs tell your commander to not proceed on this mission. It would do more damage than good for your village. If he continues then I will have to put an end to all of you.

Kaoru: Who...who are you?

Voice: Just deliver my message. Hopefully, Itachi understands.

The stranger placed her palm of Kaoru's wrist invoking a cursed seal technique on her skin and dissappeared. Kaoru turned around and saw no one. She was now overcome with fear as sweat ran down the sides of her face and she observed that star shaped marking that had appeared on her hand.

Kaoru: *thinking* Who was that?!

Elsewhere, a man wearing a rice maker's hat is seated underneath a very large tree in a marketplace still in Kumogakure smoking a cigarette. He is dressed in a short sleeved mesh shirt and black pants along with wooden sandals and is draped with a long sleeved overcoat but with his hands outside the sleeves. He tilted his hat upwards as he observed a girl approaching him. It is the same girl who approached Kaoru and spied on Itachi. She walked closer and took a seat right beside him.

Man: Yuki, you're back. Did you tell them?

Yuki: Yes, I delivered your message. Though I don't know what good it will do. They're not going to back off just because we told them to.

Man: True. But at least this way, when we kill them, we can report that we tried to warn them.

Yuki: You sound pretty confident. It's Itachi you know.

Man: When Kiyosato left Konoha, I knew it would be Itachi that would be dispatched to retrieve him. It was the reason I was also dispatched; to stop Itachi. I'm his perfect counter. There's no need to worry.

Yuki: Whatever you say.

To man with the overcoat stands up and emerges from beneath the tree.

Man: Let's go.
