Minato's eyes shifted to every corner of the battlefield, taking in every gruesome example of the downside of war. The Yellow Flash was known for his ability to maintain his cool in most situations but the incidents that played out that night up until that moment left a bad taste in his mouth. A frown was plastered on his graceful features then he turned to Kushina and forced a smile. “It's going to be ok.” he tried to comfort her, it did not take a once-every-generation genius to see how disturbed Kushina was and this only filled the legendary assassin with more anger and his blood boiled even hotter. “I wasn't late for nothing.” he added coolly.
Kushina gazed motionless at her fiancee, as if in a trance. Her eyes examined every element of his visage to make sure he was really standing just an inch from her. The warm feeling that seemed to flow from him to her, putting her completely at ease was evidence enough for her though. She hugged him tightly, squeezing on his frame and taking in the all too familiar scent of Minato. Realizing that they were still on the battlefield, she released him in order to focus on the task at hand. “What's the plan?” she asked, now completely serious.
Minato sent a kunai flying skywards and it fell amongst the Iwagakure ninja with a soft thud thought it's presence did not go unnoticed as a couple of their enemies saw the odd weapon land.
“It's the Yellow Flash!” an Iwa ninja cried out to his comrades. The heads of everyone who had heard his words twisted in the direction of the blonde. “Did he kill Tsuchikage-sama?” the ninja wondered as his eyes flared wide with fear and he created some more distance between himself and where Minato stood.
“I got it Minato.”Kushina then obtained a scroll from her backpack, unrolled it and laid it on the ground revealing the jutsu formula written on it before slamming her palm on its centre. A small cylindrical pipe emerged from the parchment in a puff of smoke. Taking it in her hand, she popped its lid open and pointed the open end skywards. A thick, bright cloud of red smoke ascended so high in the sky that every shinobi present could see it.
Kitsuchi dragged to his feet, fighting the burning sensation of his, no doubt, very serious wounds. Tiny drops of blood trailed off his chin and landed on the ground, mixing with the dirt to form an unpleasant grime. The full brunt of the Kyubi Jinchuuriki's strength had been poured into his jaw so it was, no doubt, broken. That coupled with the serious blows he took as his body tumbled against the rocky terrain left him in a bad state. He attempt to put one foot before the other but found himself nearly face flat on the ground. “I'll need a medic.” he mused and the pain of his injuries continued to irritate him.
The smoke from the pipe in Kushina's hand ascended and dispersed in the sky, a crimson beacon whose meaning was known only to the Konoha forces. Suddenly every Konoha ninja, leaped away from whatever battle they were in and gathered around her.
Minato observed that their numbers, which were a little over 20 at the time of their invasion, had dropped to only 12 living shinobi. He smiled at the fact that Kakashi, Rin and Obito had managed to make it thus far then placed his palm on Kato's shoulder and disappeared into thin air along with the Uchiha. He and Kato arrived at the kunai he threw earlier with a soft thud as quickly as they disappeared, shocking the Iwa ninja around them then Yellow Flash bit his thumb and quickly weaved a number of hand seals. “Kuchiyose no Jutsu.” he muttered under his breath as a massive toad appeared beneath him and Kato, crushing some of Iwa's forces under its immense weight and size. “You ready, Bunta?” Minato asked, eyes peeled on the remainder of the Iwa oppostion.
“Yeah!” the toad replied in a gruff but excited voice and placed one hand on its round belly then inhaled sharply. “Toad Oil Bullet!” the amphibian then fired a massive volume of oil at the Iwa opposition from its mouth.
“Now Kato!” Minato ordered quickly. Kato immediately weaved the Tiger seal and a sizeable fireball shot from the Uchiha's lips towards the oil that poured from the giant toad's mouth. The flames ignited the black thick liquid creating an even larger ball of fire that dwarfed the considerably larged toad and was directed at Iwagakure's forces. The gargatuan fireball swept through their ranks and burnt a large portion of them to cinders, their cries of pain and despair drowned in the roar of the blazing inferno.
The remainder of the Konoha team observed the hell that was unleashed with awe, their faces riddled with smiles at the tables now turned. “We will retreat to the next location we mapped out on our arrival while carefully covering our tracks.” Kushina declared authoritatively, capturing the attention of her Konoha comrades. “These are Minato's wishes. I will remain with him and Kato to fend off the Iwagakure ninja in order to buy time for your escape. The rest of you must leave now.” Without a moment's notice, the horde of Konoha ninja leaped away, completely exiting the battlefield.
Kitsuchi observed the ensuing battle between Minato and the other Iwa ninja with mixed feelings of awe and anger, his eyes set ablaze with fury and his teeth clenched. “I have to put an end to this.” he muttered under his breath and clapped his hand into a hand seal, wincing at the pain the sudden movement caused.
The earth quaked beneath the feet of everyone present and two large hemispheres of solid rock arose on both the left and right sides of Gamabunta them attempted to crush the large amphibian between themselves. The size of the toad paled in comparison to the gargantuan manifestation of Kitsuchi's jutsu and the amphibian was overwhelmed. Nevertheless, Gamabunta shot out his arms in both directions in an attempt to push the incoming massive rocks away but this was unnecessary as the toad and the humans atop its head found themselves engulfed in a golden dome-shaped barrier which protected them from the incoming massive hemispheres of rock. Minato recognized it at once as Kushina's doing and flashed a grin just as the red-haired kunoichi leaped atop the toad right next to Minato. The hemispheres smashed into the dome but little damage was observed, displaying the potency of a barrier crafted by the power of an Uzumaki.
Kitsuchi fell silent in frustation at his failed attack, his blood-stained teeth visibly grinding against each other between his lips. “Damn Konoha ninja.” he cursed inaudibly then cringed as the sting of his injuries shot through his body.
About two hundred of Iwa's forces still lingered in the battlefield after Kato's combined assault with the Toad Boss. A number of them assembled themselves before the giant amphibian and slammed their palms on the ground with a loud noise. The sound the rumbling and breaking apart of the earth formed a loud, unpleasant melody as a rectangular portion of the earth, where Gamabunta stood, sectioned off and sank into the ground in an instant.
“They used this tactic on me when I used the power of the Kyubi, their next move would be to restrict out movements with cement.” Kushina quickly informed her fiancee. She observed his nonchalance and lack of worry in spite of their current predicament and was confused by it. As if on cue, wet cement began to pour into the massive cistern from the lips of a number of Iwa ninja while water rained down from the lips of others.
“I was counting on them using this.” Minato replied the red-haired kunoichi as a smile curved on his lips. He weaved a number of hand seals at impressive speed and pointed the flat end of the handle of one of his customised kunai at the incoming torrent of sludge. The attack vanished into thin air and reappeared on the surface where the Iwa ninja stood, instantly bathing them and restricting their own movements before they had time to react.
“You used the Space Time Barrier to warp their attack back at them but when did you have time to place a marking amongst them?” Kato asked, his curiosity peaked as his crimson eyes settled on the blonde teleporter with a smile.
“I spread my kunai just after your combination attack with Bunta.” Minato explained softly to the Uchiha just as the toad under his feet leaped upwards, elevating itself and the humans that nested on it head completely out of the hole the Iwa ninja had crafted via ninjutsu. The amphibian landed on its bottom, crushing a number of Iwa ninja with its immense size much to Minato pleasure as the blonde cracked a sly smile. The Iwa opposition were unable to evade the toad as a result of being glued to their position by the cement Minato teleported to them. Minato's smile was short-lived however as he took notice of Onoki, the Tsuchikage floating a small distance away from the toad where Minato stood.
“You survived and you have begun to do as you please with my men.” the Tsuchikage stated calmly as he descended towards Kitsuchi who was seated on the ground, still unable to properly move. The elder gently placed his palm on the young man and he began to fly as well. Both Iwa ninja then floated towards the Yellow Flash.
The Yellow Flash could now see clearly the indignation the marked the Tsuchikage's expression as the elder drew closer and the blonde grimaced. The remainder of the Iwa ninja, who were lucky to have avoided the cement that Minato teleported back at his foes, immediately assembled behind their leader. Minato eyes scanned his opposition, estimating their numbers to be just over a hundred.
“I'll kill you, Konoha's Yellow Flash.” the Tsuchikage declared ominously, eyes wide in fierce anger.
