Yup, no delays this time. New chap is being released just six days after the previous. After the fight in the last chap, thing will be a bit dull before they get heated again so this chap might not be all that exciting but it will be interesting and it is necessary. Enjoy! Comments(whether they be praise or criticism) would be most appreciated. And of course, Thanks and Likes. :pwease:

“One second?”

“One second. I did it all in one second.”

Minato had just finished explaining how he had outmanoeuvred the Tsuchikage and prevented him from using his Dust Release in a single second using the combination of a thrown kunai, a direct punch to the face and of course the Flying Thunder God Technique. The blonde shinobi's narration of the albeit short but intense encounter left Uchiha Kato awe struck. It was normal for Minato to share the details of his more interesting battles with any of his fellow Konoha shinobi who cared to listen, it provided some entertainment during otherwise dull activities like filing mission reports, staking out a certain location or in this case sitting around while Kushina sealed the corpses of deceased Konoha shinobi into scrolls in order for them to be provided proper burials when she returned to Konoha.

“I can't wait to go to bed. It's been a rough night.” said Kato as he let out a long, drawn out yawn. “Kushina better hurry up with that.”

“Have some respect for the dead, Kato.” scolded Minato, his eyebrows furrowed in slight annoyance. “Besides, we have one more stop before we join up with the others.”

“What do you mean?” asked Kato, his curiosity piqued. What more could the night hold for them in addition to this battle?

“Hmmm...it's a surprise.” replied Minato with a warm smile as his eyes wandered to the dark sky above them.

“All done.” announced Kushina in a dull, dreary tone while wearing a sombre look on her face; gathering the corpses of her friends and allies brought her no joy whatsoever. Her eyes were narrowed in sadness as she dragged tired feet towards where Minato and Kato were seated on the jagged terrain.

“Minato says we have to go somewhere first.” said Kato as the Uchiha heaved a sigh. Clearly he wasn't excited at the 'surprise' detour the Yellow Flash had in mind.

Minato flashed a amused grin and gently placed his right hand on Kushina's shoulder and his left on Kato's before teleporting them, along with himself, in a bright yellow flash.

They reappeared elsewhere, their feet making a soft thud as they landed on the stony ground. They were still in Iwagakure, this much was made apparent by the fact that the terrain was exactly the same as the location where they had teleported from. The only remarkable difference was that the ground was littered with the unconscious bodies of a sizeable number of Iwagakure ninja.

“What?” Kushina exclaimed, shocked. “These are the ninja who retreated at Onoki's command, aren't they? How did you...”

“I predicted the Tsuchikage would order a retreat at some point in the battle after I slaughtered too many of his forces so I prepared an ambush for them on their way. ” Minato replied with a smile curved on his contours of his face. Suddenly, a small green toad cloaked in a grey robe leapt atop Minato's left shoulder, landing on the blonde with a soft thud and another equally miniature amphibian perched on his right. The first toad had a long white beard and white spiky eyebrows were arched over its dull yellow eyes while the other toad seemed to be wearing a hair net on its head and had a purple marking around its mouth which resembled lips.

“Minato-chan, are ya tryin' ta take all tha glory when we did all tha work?!” the green toad with a white beard asked in annoyance as it shot the blonde shinobi a glare.

“Haha...I'm sorry Fukasaku-sama.” Minato apologised sheepishly in a shrill voice while nervously scratching the spiky blonde hair at the back of his head.

Kushina eyed the two toads with a deep curiosity as did Kato. The red-haired female had heard Minato talk of the Two Great Sages who had apparently trained the great Sannin Jiraiya but she never thought she would ever meet them in person. “Fukasaku-sama, Shima-sama.” she greeted softly, her head bowed in respect.

“After my first battle with Onoki, before I came to your, I went to Myobokuzan to seek their help.”

Flashback

Minato appeared instantly at Myobokuzan and was greeted by the rumble of the toad whose head he had landed on. In one of his previous battles in the course of the ongoing Third Shinobi World War, he had called upon Gamabunta's assistance and found it necessary to mark the large toad's head with his Flying Thunder God Technique. This was in order to make it much easier to come to Bunta's aid for the purpose of dispelling any genjutsu that may be used against the toad during combat against Konoha's enemies. He had now used the jutsu formula as a beacon to transport himself to Myobokuzan after evading Onoki's Dust Release.

“Minato? What are you doing here so late? I'm trying to sleep!” Gamabunta complained loudly, having been roused from his slumber by the sudden appearance of his blonde summoner. The massive toad had a soft spot for Minato since he was more serious and well-mannered than the loud mouthed Jiraiya but he couldn't help getting angry at the sudden disturbance.

“I need to speak to the Two Sages.” Minato informed, his voice soft as if to prevent awakening the other toads that were sprawled disorderly on the ground around Gamabunta.

Within minutes, he found himself in the esteemed presence of two of the smallest, oldest and most powerful dwellers of Myobokuzan. “I apologize for the intrusion, Fukasaku-sama, Shima-sama but I need your help.”

“What do ya want, Minato-chan?” Fukasaku asked, his voice deepened and severly cracked with age and his speech slurred as a result of the fact that he had just awakened from slumber. He lifted a forelimb to rub the sleep from his eyes while his wife Shima let loose a drawn out yawn.

“I need the power of your Sage Mode.” replied Minato, his cerulean eyes focused intensely on the two small toads.

Minato returned to the scene where he had first fought Onoki in a bright yellow flash, appearing suddenly next to one of his three pronged custom kunai, accompanied by the Two Great Sages who were perched on his shoulders. His cerulean eyes found a large, clean scar that was carved deeply into the jagged earth which he surmised was the intense damage done by the Dust Release attack that he had evaded by transporting himself to Myobokuzan. As he had so perfectly planned, the Tsuchikage had believed him to be dead and went ahead to join his subordinates. The Yellow Flash smiled at this.

“So yer sayin' that we have tha kill any Iwa shinobi that pass through here?” asked Fukasaku as he and his wife vacated Minato's shoulders and landed on the jagged terrain.

“No, capturing them is the main goal. I was hoping you could use one of your sound-based genjutsu powered by your Sage Mode.” the blonde replied the aged toad.

“Troublesome brat.” muttered Shima as she glared at Minato through her yellow eyes.

“Bear with it, Kaa-chan.” Fukasaku pleaded of his wife. “Anyways, we'll do it using that genjutsu” the elder toad announced to both Minato and Shima. The blonde lit up with a bright smile while the female toad grimaced.

“Hold on To-chan! I ain't using that one!” Shima protested and a quarrel ensured between the couple.

“You both have my thanks!” said Minato, still beaming from ear to ear, before simmering in a Yellow Flash.

End Flashback

“So as they retreated, Fukasaku-sama and Shima-sama paralysed them with genjutsu.” Minato explained to his team mates as the Two Great Sages hurriedly drank the water he had procured for them from one of his storage scrolls. They had complained that casting the genjutsu left their throats severely dry.

“How did you know Onoki would order a retreat?” asked Kato with quizzical look on his tired face.

“He couldn't very well let us kill over a thousand of his ninja. Iwa's policy on fighting the Yellow Flash is to flee on sight so I decided to use it against them. I was a bit worried that Onoki would see their unconscious bodies when he retreated.” replied Minato evenly as he lazily twirled one of his custom weapons in his right hand.

“You have me to thank for the fact that he didn't. I used my Dust Cloud technique to cover them up when I sensed two ninja flying in our direction.” informed Shima, the female toad of the Two Great Sages, in a rapsy voice. “Anyways, what do you plan to do with them?”

Minato made a small incision on his thumb, formed a few hand seals and slammed the palm of the wounded hand on the ground, summoning a blue colored toad equal in size to Fukasaku and Shima. The toad immediately multiplied in size and changed its shape to look like a large house. “We'll capture them. I heard Iwa imprisoned several of our shinobi so we can return these guys in exchange for our own men after obtaining as much information from them using genjutsu. We could also have them release ninja they have captured from other countries into our possession so we can get info from those ones as well.” he explained as he opened the 'door' to the house shaped toad. “Kushina, if you could do the honor.”

Kushina nodded just as bright golden chains spilled from her back and wrapped up all the Iwa ninja ninja that were strewn haphazardly across the rocky ground. She then flung them into the house-shaped toad through the 'door' that served as an entrance and the blue amphibian quickly reduced to its normal size before dispelling in a puff of smoke.

“Neat trick.” complimented Kato.

“Thanks. Jiraiya-sensei taught me that.” said Minato with a smile. He then turned to the two Great Sages. “Thank you for all your help.”

“Don't expect it next time.” hissed Shima. She shrugged and vanished in a puff of white smoke as did her husband.

“Well, can we go now?” asked Kushina as she let out a yawn. The blonde did not fail to notice the glum look that was plastered on her face as a result of fatigue and his lips curved into an understanding smile. With a low zapping sound and a bright yellow flash, Minato teleported himself and his two comrades away from the scene.

The nine Konoha ninja that managed to escape the hands of Iwa attackers, due to Minato, Kato and Kushina distracting the enemy, had already relocated elsewhere and set up camp at a new location which Kakashi and Inuzuka Hi had discovered when the duo surveyed the foreign country. As expected with any location within the Earth Country, the land was barren, lacking the lush vegetation that marked their home of Konohagakure. The earth also ascended and descended irregularly, forming small hills which served as walls around their new camp. Their numbers being so few, only three tents were pitched; a large one to accommodate the medics along with their equipment and three smaller ones that would hold about three or four ninja each. Two of these smaller tents had already been totally occupied by the surviving battle ninja while one was left completely vacant, in earnest expectation of Minato, Kushina and Kato's imminent return. After Minato's flamboyant display of immense power through the use of the famous toad Gamabunta, all the Konoha ninja quickly discarded any doubts they had that their team leader would claim total victory in his confrontation against the numberous Iwa foes. It was only a matter of time, he would slaughter every ninja who dared to face him in the blink of an eye as he had always done, or so they believed. This was why the two male shinobi who carefully patrolled the perimeter of the small camp that night were not too surprised when their eyes caught a sudden flash of light which appeared to have originated from within the medical tent.

Kakashi was quick to arm himself with a kunai upon percieving the sudden appearance of a new mixture of scents coming from the medical tent until he recognised it as his teachers' Minato-sensei, Kushina-sensei and Kato-sensei. He relaxed, discarding the weapon and then returning to what he had previously been occupied with; studying a scroll. The thought of going to greet his teacher flashed through his mind but he disregarded it; the man would probably come to his tent to check on him and his team-mates Obito and Rin anyway. His head flicked to his right and his eyes focused deeply on the two individuals who were fast asleep beside him. Rin was lying still on her right side, resting peacfully in her sleeping bag while Obito was sprawled in an ungraceful heap on a sheet of cloth, his mouth wide open and a trail of drool sliding down the corner of the orifice. Kakashi sighed at the unsightly sleeping pattern and turned his attention back to the piece of parchment.

“Welcome back, Minato-taichou.” greeted one of two medics who inhabited the large tent where Minato had teleported into along with Kushina and Kato. The light sound of their feet touching the ground as they appeared out of nowhere was enough to rouse the jonin-level medic from his sleep. The other medic however was surprisingly undisturbed by their appearance and remained fast asleep. “How was the battle?”

“We managed to hold off the Iwa forces and capture about a hundred of them.” Minato replied coolly as the blonde removed his weapons pouch, shuriken holster and forehead protector. “How is everyone?” he asked, his eyes surveying the interior of the spacious tent tent. Only these two medics were in it, surrounded by a few beds and many equipment of varying sizes not uncommon in a hospital setting.

“Not seriously wounded, we only had to administer minimal treatment before everyone went to sleep. An empty tent was pitched for you three in the farthest corner of the left side of the camp.” the medic drawled his mundane report while carefully scanning Minato's frame for any unchecked injuries. He also meticulously did the same for Kato and Kushina and was relieved and a bit surprised not to find any. Did the battle pose that little of a challenge? “How exactly did you capture one hundred Iwa ninja?” he asked incredulously, his curiousity piqued as he knew the answer would be most interesting.

“Long story.” Minato grinned as he ran his right hand through his spiky blonde mop of hair while holding onto his weapons holster, pouch and his headband in his left hand. Kushina and Kato silently exited the medical tent, languidly dragging their feet to the empty one that had been prepared for them. Minato let out a yawn,“I need to go to bed too. Where are my students?”

“Farthest tent to the right.”

Minato quickly found himself headed towards the pavilion the medic had described. He couldn't be blamed for being worried about the children, they were his students after all. As his tired legs pulled him towards the small, white tent, his eyes observed a dim light which seemed to be originating from inside the pavilion, probably coming from a lantern, meaning someone was still awake. The blonde had a pretty good guess who it was. “I'm coming in Kakashi.” he announced in a soft voice, almost a whisper, before he entered into the pavilion.

“They're asleep.” Kakashi informed the his blonde visitor, referring to Obito and Rin, without taking his eyes of the scroll in his hand.

“I can see that.”

“Nice to see you made it back alive, sensei.”

“Yeah, you too. What are you up to?” Minato asked, his eyes now shifted to the scroll in Kakashi's possession.

“Sharpening my knowledge of the Lightning element so I can perfect the Rasengan, of course.” the white haired boy replied evenly.

“Hmmm...something tells me the answer to combining shape manipulation with that technique won't be found in some scroll.” said Minato, a smile already playing on his lips. Typical of Kakashi to continue to strive for excellence even at the late hours of the night and after such a tiring day.

“The resulting technique would probably be an S-class move. I hope I live long enough to actually see the Rasengan's complete form regardless of whether you, Jiraiya-sama or myself manage to achieve it.” said Kakashi as he slowly rolled up the piece of parchment and carefully placed it in his backpack.

“Don't worry Kakashi. I'll protect you.” Minato reassured his student while softly ruffling the lad's sliver head of hair. The boy then drifted to sleep.

The Yellow Flash heaved a tired sigh and quietly exited the small tent, lazily dragging his feet towards the one occupied by Kushina and Kato. Upon entering the pavilion, he found both shinobi fast asleep in each of their sleeping bags and be proceeded to join them, finally allowing himself much needed rest.
