The anime put things into perspective. But Kishi did a pretty bad job a presenting Obito's resolve with the excessive Rin flashbacks.

I'll admit, Obito's resolve was instigated by Rin's death. But the question is why?

Obito was an orpahan who was lonely like Naruto.

He was probably bullied for being weak.

As a result, he hated the world and was probably on the verge of commiting suicide.

But he was saved. He found Rin and therefore finally found a friend who cared.

He also met Kakashi and Minato but Rin was the only person in his life that truly showed any concern for him.

Since he has doesn't have much else in life, he tired his best at being a good ninja but constantly fails.

He was taunted by Kakashi and nonchlantly overlooked by Minato. Rin cared, but as a man, his pride took a huge blow from being weak and recieving pity from the only person he considered a friend and potential romanic partner.

He finally became good friends with Kakashi but..

He got half crushed a bolder and most like can never reproduce and is constantly in excutiating pain. But he just shoves all this into the back of this mind, as if he was denying what happened by using his friends as a distraction.

Just look at the anime. He was so weak after being crushed, he could barely even walk. It's just so sad, but he refuses to accept reality and shoves all of this negativity into his subconcious.

But...

when he saw Kakashi stab Rin he lost trust in this world.

That because he lost everything he had. It makes sense.

Also keep in mind, he was just a kid when he faced all this. He was not ready at all to cope.

The anime is going to put just as much flashbacks as the manga if not more
It just seems better because of the music and action

Indeed. Obito's past was tragic.

If you look at it from obito's point of view, It makes perfect sense to why he cracked when Rin died. Being an Uchiha just doubled the intense feeling and hatred he must of felt when he saw rin die.

One of the most realistic characters in naruto.

Don't we already know this?

Obito has a hard time accepting reality. When the one thing he had is gone, he took his anger out on the rest of the world.

If it was some average guy who lost a gf, then I would call BS.

But Obito truely had nothing from the beginning. No parents, no self respect. It really is sad.

At the beginning it seemed that he was just some crazed kid that got friendzoned.

But in reality, he was just a kid pushed to the limits. He held on to Rin so dearly because he had nothing else. No friends or family, not even a good Ninja, most likely mocked by the Uchiha. Truly sad.

I thought it was clear enough in the manga, but different strokes for different folks.

I've always understood his perspective, infact its the main reasons why I don't like his character. He's an incredibly weak person in my opinion.

Thank you modern day people cant understand the rin thing.. especially not in naruto. They just say find someone else and everything is expendable... in naruto the person you have a crush on as a kid is your partner for life unless its a love triangle. The first person to ever be nice to obito was brutally killed by his first friend because the world was going to use her as a kamikaze attack..

I'm interested to see how the anime team handle Obito's defeat. Kishi put some really good undertones that were a bit subtle for some people to pick up. I'd love to see the anime bring these into the forefront a bit more, but if they don't thats cool to.

But I agree the last couple of episodes have been really good in conveying Obito's past, especially the OSTs.

Well the manga was inundated with Rin flashbacks which marks him as a Pedo.

The anime showed him as a helpless kid just looking to fit in but finally when he had found someone he cared about, it was all taken away.

Have you ever wondered that madara planed that drama. I mean obito just got in time to see rin being killed . Why would the mist give their most powerful weapon to the leaf. I mean sure it was the to destroy the leaf but the leaf are prepared for everything. But sorry imagination running wild :snick:

Hm. I'm 50/50 with Obitos character development, but honestly Kishimoto should of "spiced" his back story a little more.

Well, lets compare his to other tragic characters like Itachi. Itachi was a genius from birth and while he wasn't ready to do what he did, he was a mentally strong person, who was a mature as a Hokage at the age of 3. That was why he didn't turn. He may have lost almost everything, but he still had Sasuke. He also had a very logical sense of right and wrong.

Obito was just a regular run of the mill kid that had extremely bad luck. He was incompentant and a loser. He was crushed by a rock. On top of that, Obito lost the only thing he had, Rin. His psyche just couldn't handle it.
